Apple iPad beats Android in tablet sales

I have an idea!!

We should collect and buy him a WP then he can go bitch and moan in that section .... besides no-one goes there so it will not affect anyone. ;)

I have a feeling he is one of those people that will complain about the sky being blue just for the hell of it... so no I dont think so :)

Hahaha thanks for another gem; anyway I'm off for the evening (good looking date, and some sweet Jazz rhythms to see through the rest of the night... Always good to start with a smile)

Gee Dolby, there you go, feeding them again...

I never learn :/

What's worse is that I'm grouped with them and looked down by real IT folk too. Probably the biggest gripe I have with Apple

Ah well

I went through the thread and I really couldn't see anything that should cause people to get all upset :/

I countered the comment that 'Android has totally failed to respond to the iPad on both hardware and software' ... I pointed out the great marketing that Apple have .... I pointed out iTunes isn't the best software out (quite horrible IMO) ... And I mentioned I'd be worried about sending R20,000 on a Mac based on the limitations of the iPad

Maybe we should have rules in this subsection?

Nobody is upset ... we just don't get it. Posts like this:

My stepfather (over 60) did that but luckily my stepbrother has the iPad 1, iPad 2 and Samsung 10.1 and persuaded him to go the right way!

Suffice to say - he's very happy with his Samsung and chuckles when I can't access sites or media online.

indicate that you evangelize Android tablets over the iPad. But you stick with your iPad nonetheless. I swap my hardware so often that in your situation I would have moved over to Android with a smile. There's no shortage of people on Gumtree looking to swap their Tabs for iPad.

:D

We stopped debating, remember ....

You guys can't take it, it seems ;)

I can't help but lol at threads like this.

Lol @ the apple user hating his iPad but doesn't want to change... Must be "brainwashed" too. :D

It's not *quite* like that.

Imagine you read a few threads telling you nothing comes to close to the iPad - in both software and hardware. Imagine you're told over this is THE only tablet to consider and it just works out the box. Imagine they told you the sales were 100 x everything else for the simple reason it IS the best.

So you order and day 1 you hit a glitch .... then day 3 ... day 5 .... day 6 .... and day 12. It battles to do simple tasks (which I won't go into). Now you walk into work and the real IT folk show you their Android tablets which do 100% what of what your iPad d oes, plus the limitations, plus more than you haven't thought about. First thing that comes to mind is 'why do people tell me how far apart they are?!'

It doesn't mean it's hated - it just means 'why doesn't it do more?'

In other words there are *gasp* things it can't do ....

Much better addition... finally something I can agree with you on ;)

Btw there's nothing on the market that is perfect -- an honest Android follower (for example Elimentals) will tell you even Android has room for much improvement.

Yet if you like flexibility and tinkering then Android is clearly the better option for you... iOS is meant to be simple and intuitive (as I said before some might call this boring and restrictive), but that's why I personally like it.

I prefer technology to simplify my life and with age I'm less inclined to want to dabble in the nuts and bolts stuff. I like you want more, but not by sacrificing any of the simplicity and intuitiveness of iOS.

and then you discover to your horror that in any enterprise that takes security seriously that your Android device is excluded from enterprise function that your iOS device is not -

and you realise....

.
that all the platforms have limitations and there is no perfect one

and then you get on with life and use the device that gives you the most value.

Thanks, most valued comment I've seen in this thread yet!

Ja, the thing is most people just get that. You don't have to spoon feed them the obvious. That it is at all necessary to reiterate that fact is the problem.

Must say, played with an iPad 3 last night, was quite impressed with the display, first tablet that I desire over my Motorola Xoom (which beats the iPad 1 and iPad 2 hands down).

Very tempted, but iTunes and the closed architecture still kills it for me, will just have to wait for the 1080i Android tablets to come out, which should be soon. For example, the Asus Infinity 700, don't believe that Samsung has anything in the pipeline, or am I wrong ?

Have you seen the 300?

Yes the iPad 3 is impressive and I am planning to finally upgrade my iPad 1st Gen, but also looking at replacing my Eee Pad with the Infinity.

I agree re Asus, about the only company that appears to be leaning in the right direction re improved designs and desirable tech (still not perfect, but way better than Samsung, HP and other IMO)

The thing about Asus for me is that its more than a tablet. The Keyboard attachment allows me to replace my need for a laptop most of the time esp when I am traveling like now.

Sitting in a Hotel with only my Eee pad + Phone, and I don't miss anything. USB access allow me to bring my Movies and whatnot + HDMI and I don't need Movie channels, and when I wanna lie in Bed reading a comic before I sleep off goes the Keyboard and I am sorted.

The 300 screen is only 1280x800, same as my Motorola Xoom.

Am looking for something better, the 700 is 1920x1200 SuperIPS+, should be good enough !
