Yea my thoughts too, you can pick up an official Apple refurb 128GB iPhone 15 for £699, only £100 more. Or you can gamble on eBay or any of the other refurb places and get one for £500 or less - depending on the grade.

Here are the official Apple iPhone 16e cases

Apple introduced the iPhone 16e yesterday and launched a new line of official cases alongside it. These cases come in five colors: Lake Green, Fuchsia, Winter Blue, White, and Black, and they are made from silicone.

None of the cases include MagSafe since the iPhone 16e lacks the magnetic wireless charging support, relying instead on standard Qi charging, which should still function through the silicone material.

Apple said the case is made with a 55% recycled silicone material and it has a "silky soft-touch finish on the exterior," while the inside is a soft microfiber lining for "even more protection."

Apple says its C1 modem isn't to blame for the iPhone 16e's lack of MagSafe

The iPhone 16e became official yesterday, and it doesn't have MagSafe. Some people have apparently claimed that the omission of MagSafe had something to do with Apple's new in-house developed modem, the C1, which has made its debut with the iPhone 16e.

That should sound far-fetched by default, and now Apple has confirmed that nothing of the kind has happened. The C1 modem is not responsible for the decision to leave MagSafe charging off the new iPhone 16e, according to a statement issued by Apple.

So it's all clear now, it was cost cutting all along. Another storm in a teacup has come and gone. Why people couldn't believe that Apple would skimp on MagSafe for its cheapest phone when it already skimped on the cameras isn't very logical, but people on the internet have been known to be devoid of logic before.

lol, cameras as a status symbol. I’ve got the cheapest phone in my friend group, but they all know I own the most nvidia stock, hahaha!

It has been that long or short depending on your reference.

I still member getting an OG SE in '16 for my then wife. She loved the size & speed. It served her well for many years.

Good phones.
 
My OG SE finally went to retirement a few months ago when kid got a new phone. Although he still use the OG SE to watch YT in bed as he says the new phone's screen does not dim as low as the old phone

Still think that OG SE(iPhone 5) was the most beautiful phone ever made.
 
What is truly impressive with the 16E is the battery life, it even smokes the 16, apparently due to the Apple silicone 5G chip being so efficient.
