Apple iPhone 5 unveiled

Having done a bit of reading I am very excited about getting one.Nothing ground breaking but certainly more than enough changes for me to warrant an upgrade.I think the one thing I will miss is the fact that the iPhone4 feels weighty in my hands and was always put off by the lightness of the S2.Is this the first smartphone that will have dual band wifi?Pity DOC cannot get their act together and get LTE rolled out!!!

No - not the first.
S3 has dual band. Think my wifes S2 also has. Cannot remember. I have dual band Cisco wireless access point upstairs purely for my mobile devices. Galaxy Tab and iPad3 also dual band.

Every video review I've seen so far, the reviewer has commented on how light the device feels in relation to the 4s. One reviewer found it disconcertingly light.

and I might even be puzzled why you'd prefer an SGS3 when the OneX has such a superior build quality and screen, but basically it doesn't bother me one way or the other.

See you just think everyone is samsung boys.I'm not as I said, I'm just not an icult member so now you wanna throw me aside fanboyrise me??

...btw I do like the HTC ONE X more than the S3...i miss my white one (screen, build quality and htc sense are what set it apart)

From your neutral and sensible self such a commendation wouldn't be worth a whole lot but thanks.

Oh, would you rather hear it from an isheep or samboy?Maybe the nokia fanboys of old with their "A nokia's a nokia" type mentality....i despise fanboys of all kinds always trying to shove their brainwashed k@k down everyone else's throats then they get all offended when people shove other views back at them.

I used to be a bit of a Sony Ericsson fan back in the days when the t68i/t610i were the best phones around but yeah I left ESATO even because it was too SE orientated and you could never really get balanced views on what was the best phone at the time, fanboys always let brands dictate whats best rather than the actual device.Sorry but I refuse to be brainwashed by marketing and branding.

Lets call a spade a spade irrespective of what brand it has stamped on it.

Not at all... I was being totally hypothetical. Just saying I would happily debate the merits of one Android phone versus another.

It's still the benchmark for screens till iPhone5 comes out then we'll have to see again. Another underrated specimen is the Xperia S.

Or let's not make assumptions about someone just because they profess a liking to one particular device.

Yea I'm not sure about that myself. I like a bit of heft in a phone. Reassures me somehow.

I blame SONY and HTC marketing.Ok the Xperia s does have lower processing power and is thicker but the screen is right up there with the One X.

Liking is one thing, obsessed is another.

I don't know..in some way the SGS3 caught the public taste just right. Credit where it's due. I don't buy into the idea that marketing is what sells phones anymore.

The difference between liking and obsession is equal to the difference between a geek and a layperson. MyBB is a geek's haven, let a bit of overenthusiasm slide why don't you? And why is it only Apple fans aren't permitted to be obsessed?

The media has alot to do with it IMO.Yes sure ultimately the product has to be good too or no amount of media attention is going to sell it.

Don't worry I don't only attack isheep,I've been doing it to the Nokia fanboys also in the past and at the rate its going I'll be nailing some samsung fanatics soon also...lol nothing personal, just against fanboys but then again if there were non it would be less exciting I guess :p

Right now windows 8 and windows phone 8 are getting me excited, very keen to jump on to that bandwagon when it arrives. The main reason is the thought of replacing my tablet and laptop with one powerful device thats mobile too.

Why is Widows 8 getting people excited?
Will it be customisable like android?

I also prefer a bit of weight in my hand when using a phone. It gives one that false feeling of value, doesn't it? I mean, paying R8000 for something with no weight just doesn't feel right.
