I'm actually basing my statement on Anand's warning in the first batch of Geekbench benchies which showed a win for the iPhone5:

Although Geekbench is cross platform, I wouldn't recommend using this data to do anything other than compare iOS devices. I've looked at using Geekbench to compare iOS to Android in the past and I've sometimes seen odd results.

I warned at the time that the results were good but untrustworthy.

The final benchmarks they showed off were pretty unanimous though. So it could be you that's grasping anything that favours the SGS3?

Who cares about benchmark results that are so close that users won't ever see a difference? Keep in mind that the S3 is not that new any more and will be replaced early 2013 and then it will beat the iPhone 5 ... and so the game will go on and on and on ... wash, rinse, dry, wear, wash, rinse ...
 
Ja, and I don't really think people will switch now anyway. I mean people probably already invested in apps on either side. Anyway, the iPhone looks really good. The numerous benchmarks back it up. I am sure once the SGS3 gets jellybean it would also perform better, but I think the design of the A6 chip is what sets it apart from other dual cores at the moment.

More innovate ways will now be found to spead up the different phones.
 
I don't care if the iPhone/iPad/iWhatever is twice as fast as my Android device. As long as iTunes connectivity is anywhere in the picture I'm not interested. iOS is also becoming boring now and no amount of industrial design genius will make iOS look new and fresh. Benchmarks (synthetic or real) says very little these days unless you are a professional cell phone gamer preparing for the next cell phone gaming olympics. The compression done on movies to get them onto our mobile devices will reduce the quality anyway and all the movies play well on any of the current top-end devices anyway. With Jelly Bean Android has become as smooth as butter so ... the benchmarks are non issues. Funny how iFans now make such a big deal about them ... was supposed to be a Fandroid thing only.
 
One doesn't have to be a professional cellphone gamer to appreciate the potential of having an xbox360 effectively built into your phone, with battery life that can stand up to a few good hours of gaming. Benchmarks matter because of apps; it's not just about having a smooth ui, the potential is there for richer and more intensive apps which is really everything in smart phones these days. I upgrade my PC all the time for increments of performance that aren't even close to the gap that exists between the 4s and the 5.
 
Well http://www.androidslide.com/ comes to mind when we talking about high CPU use on apps.
Yes it works on lower spec phones but when you use native 12 Mp shots with instant effects and autosave, it matters :)

But I must add for general use as long as the phone can open my Excell document and allow me to do a quick edit I am fine with it.
 
I had my iphone 5 for about 2 days now. I must say that it's a really nice phone with regards to build quality and the speed of the software on it. For a dual core processor I haven't noticed any lag. Yeah.....iTunes is really annoying when you want to copy over songs etc. I wish they just made the phone work as mass storage as well.

That being said, I won't quickly let go of my galaxy S2. I still love that phone to bits and would like to try out jellybean when it's available. I don't religiously follow just one ecosystem and become a total fanboy over it and bash the other ecosystems. I really love my gadgets and enjoy android and iOS equally.

I must honestly say that I enjoy the build quality of the iphone 5 and find it better than my S2. Samsung should really concentrate on build quality like other android makers such as HTC or even Nokia. I am however interested in the upcoming galaxy note 2. It does have a bucket load of features which are not present in the iphone 5. I also like the revival of the stylus. Look forward to using one once my bro gets his upgrade in November.

I guess I'm like this also,just tend to get a bit more irritated by isheep than android fanboys...although these days there are one or two annoying android fanboys too.....I wont mention names but they know who they are.

Keen to try out windows 8 soon gonna probably change over from ios but thats mainly because current tablets are just toys wheres as a windows 8 tablet will be a proper tablet IMO.The tech needs to be there though to make em thin enough and light enough.

Yeah, I would like to try out a windows 8 tablet as well. I have tried out Android tablets such as the Galaxy 10,1 as well as the Note 10.1. I also tried out the new iPad3 for a while. Once again, I like the build quality of the iPad3 as well as the screen resolution, but I also enjoy the features of an Android tablet (especially the stylus on the note 10.1).

I wish manufacturers such as Samsung would work on increasing the resolution on their tablets. While the Note 10.1 is a good tablet, its hard to look at it once you have seen the ipad 3's screen. While it has so many good functions, people tend to stray away because they end up comparing screen resolution and clarity.

I hope the upcoming windows tablets are reasonably priced. There is no use if they are priced higher that a good desktop pc. People will definitely look the other way. Will wait for a good review before trying one though.

Thats one thing I thank Apple for is constantly pushing the resolution bar,sure now other brands are beating em in phones but they started it and that was innovation that we needed in the industry.In the tablet space they definitely make the best quality screens available to us and the Samsung screens are rather disappointing compared to the ipad's.

Its a pity ios restricts you so much though.
 
I honestly never felt restricted using iOS. It's never been an issue. Once you get your head around the peculiar Apple-ish logic of doing things there's usually a way of getting what you want. A lot of the lack of restriction in Android, for me is only useful because it enables you to get the bloody thing to work properly as it should have out of the door, without e.g. crappy half-baked manufacturer skins and with the latest software versions. I haven't yet felt compelled to upgrade the iPad2 because I haven't had a single problem with it since I jailbroke it. Think I had to restart it one time so far? It's peaceful.

Talks about not feeling restricted, points out he is using a jailbroken device <--- go figure.

If restriction was a none issue you would not feel the need to jailbreak it.

Well yea.. jailbreaking took me all of 2 minutes to accomplish, was a matter of ~3 clicks, and gave me access to everything I wanted to do. The times I've near-bricked my phones trying to update ROM's have been far more 'restricting' in my view.

If restriction was a none issue you would not feel the need to jailbreak it.

Saying there is no restriction issues after jail breaking an apple device is admitting that apple devices are too restrictive to start with.

Well its saying that if you're really anal about your device freedom then you can jailbreak. If it really isn't an issue then you can stick with vanilla iOS..

Basically if it hadn't been for the iTunes SA situation then I probably wouldnt even bother to jailbreak. That and that settings widget what do you call it i forget now. Otherwise I get by pretty well as it is.
