Apple announces M4 chip with ray-tracing and boosted AI performance

Apple launched its latest in-house chip — the M4 — at its "Let Loose" event on Tuesday, 7 May 2024.

While the chip is likely destined for the next generation of MacBooks and iPads, Apple has started with the latest iPad Pro.

The iPad Pro M4 looks great for those needing the added performance.
The iPad Air M2 feels like it was released late and doesn't quite fit with the M2 chip but the 13" version I'm sure will be popular.

The Apple Pencil Pro seems like a great improvement for those using it for design etc. Same price of the predecessor too.

Doubt it. Even Amazon has largely similar prices apart from the specials.

From what I've heard the M4 isn't that different from an M3 apart from the AI cores from a technology stand point, so it's highly likely the M3 was actually able to reach these performance benchmarks but Apple chose to nerf it.

I spoke to a member of their team recently and he reckons pricing will be very aggressive
