Oh, don't have a datacard so wouldn't know that..*sigh* Looks like people's 3G|HSDPA problems are getting sorted pretty quick. :)

millibars per session, an indication of the pressure one is under at any given point in time....
Especially you and the engineering team at Vodacom at this moment intime:confused:
Thanks for all your help so far - I'm sure the current problems will be sorted soon!

I've tried connecting this morning again, but the link is unreliable, slow and disconnects after a few minutes (last session was 4.5 min).

Edit:

Obviously the "change" to my profile has simply exaccerbated the issue, rather than improving it. Where to now?

I am having the same problems. Connecting through Samsung SGH-ZV10. The downlink goes to sleep or dies if I dont open new web pages all the time. Another thing is that it also happens if I just browse in the Vlive portal on the phone. Same issues. I have to go out of portal and in again to keep it alive.

I spoke too soon. Connected but no data transfer again :(

I have a question: those who've experienced major issues this month... have any of you ever experienced uninterrupted connectivity for more than 2, or 3 hours in the past? I have never been connected for more than probably 3 hours, without a sudden disconnect, so am starting to wonder whether my SIM card may be faulty perhaps... vodacom3g, based on the data you collected from everyone, is there an indication that those folks with problems have SIM cards manufactured in the same batch perhaps? This argument, may even hold for the data connect cards too, although less likely due to there being several brands of cards? Hmmm, just thinking out aloud.

Hi All,

Answer to the following as requested:

(1) 1.
(2) No throughput - download arrow goes to 0bps.
(3) Johannesburg - Edenvale - Dowerglen Ext4.
(4) 082-900-xxxx.
(5) Option 3G HSDPA 64k sim.
(6) No info.
(7) No info.
(8) No info.

Still get a 0bps download after about 5 minutes of being connected. Have to disconnect and then re-connect. Seems to happen immediately after the words "SMS Inbox Refreshed" flashes at the bottom of the Dashboard just above the Signal Strength meter.

Cheers,

@ic Same card since I got it one and a half years ago. I have only had the problem for a few hours yesterday and today. This morning I was connected for 4 hours with no problems.

@zoot The longest I have been on line was over 48 hours with no problems.

Vodacom3G, been testing both numbers all day. The 082 85 number was disconnecting by itself this morning, but all okay now. The 082 55 number running perfectly. WELL DONE!!!!!

We also changed the profiles on the following forumites:

johandutoit2000
bgb
reef
softdev
Edinetz
sjb
Tallies

(remember to reboot your card)

Feedback seems to indicate we've nailed the 'downlink stop' problem, so will now schedule a mass update for other subs with this problem. This will happen within the next two days. (Takes a bit of planning!)

Thanks for all the forumites who helped trace down this problem. Now onto the next one....random disconnects.....

Yes in the past I have been connected for days on end without problems. (Dangerous it might be, but no connection problems till April this year)

However, you raised an important question: Any of you out there without any problems as described up here? The person who voted "No problem", is that still the case, or did you loose you connection directly after voting.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm still getting the downlink stop problem - even with the updated profile - and after 5-10 seconds the link comes back, but I haven't experienced any random disconnects - yet...

I don't think you're seeing the same problem, the initial problem was the downlink would stop completely. Typically you would need to disconnect and reconnect to get it working again.

In your case it recovers automatically between 5 to 10 seconds.

I'll arrange for someone to visit you to look at the problem.
