Something important I forgot to mention to those in the above list.

You need to power the card down, i.e. close the dash, remove the card completely, re-insert and restart the dash.

This will ensure a complete update on the card.

I started my test today from a clean boot, so this will not be a possible issue with my ongoing connectivity fiasco.

Yip did that, been on for about 40 minutes, now the connection has dropped, and the smashboard is telling me that it is trying to aquire the network?

K, been up for an hour already without hassles. The problem was always severe at this time of day. Looks a lot like the profile macgiver thingy worked and if it is so then a big up to the guys for getting down to it, v3g. ( and obviously to you for your loyal intervention ) :)

Let's try and make a clear distinction between:

1) The downlink that stops but you DO NOT get disconnected.

2) You get disconnected and have to re-connect again.

We're trying to determine the effectiveness for the 'potential' fix for (1) above.

So if you get (2), I believe it's a separate issue and need to address it.

Hi V3G,

I have pm you the 3G cell number. I have rebooted the laptop and in winxp an Linux I still experience problem number "1) The downlink that stops but you DO NOT get disconnected." after about 10 min.

I have experienced both, with no. 2 (sounds wrong?) happening now, with the smashboard saying the card is acquiring the network, and both LED's flashing and the connection dropping - re-insert the card and it works again?

LOL, at least "number 2" is quite descriptive of the problem....

Really big thanks to v3G for sorting this problem out, calming me down when I "lost it" and always getting back to me when he promised to do so.

Its such a pity that most of the other ppl in vodacom arent even 10% as professional and dedicated as he is. I truly believe that if he hadnt been around we would have been down for a very long time.

3 g Problems

V3g, it's been a while since checking in.

Surprised to see the problem is still persisting.

This weekend I visited some family and experienced #2 with a Nokia phone in Constantia Kloof while at home I'm still experiencing #1 with the data card.

PS: You indicated a week ago someone will contact me but nothing so far. Guess they are all busy searching for a solution......

Also please check the drivers installed correctly under device manager..., no conflicts, if all ok, then maybe check wif v3g ... maybe network issues, doubt it will be the card and desktop/laptop same thing...

Big Kriss what's your throughput like? I haven't seen speeds anywhere near what's been advertised nor what other users are experiencing, and I'm wondering if the current network hiccup has anything to do with it or not?

How many bars are you seeing on your dash?

Also, when you work, do you get a double or triple flashing LED?

Where I am now it fluctuates between 2 and 3 bars, but mostly 2, and it's a triple flash of the blue LED - so that's HSDPA isn't it and a double flash normal 3g?

And the downlink is still stopping - sorry for the bad news ;(

I gave your number through tonight for the same profile change we used snap and the others as guine pigs. Not sure when they'll apply it, but will be either tonight or tomorrow night.

Will let you know.

/edit/

Oops, think I got you confused with bgb. Just gave your number through as well.

The guys ended up with another test case that could repeat the problem (me!), so we did not need to bug you, but thanks for being willing to help. Much appreciated.
