From the AGS Unacceptable Items List:
Items that cannot be shipped via Aramex Global Shopper:
Flammable liquids:
Alcohol, Perfume...

I know Shop & Ship offer a fragrance service for the Middle East, but this does not apply to us in Southern Africa.

"S&S Perfume is an add-on service that allows you to shop for perfumes using your S&S addresses."

You can ask AGS Johannesburg, but I bet you they will refer you to the AGS Unacceptable Items List.

For those who don't know, Shop & Ship is known as Aramex Global Shopper here in Southern Africa as there is already a very successful Shop & Ship (which has nothing to do with Aramex).
Meh that's unacceptable lol

Only reason I want to import perfumes, is that I can't get much Niche fragrances here.
Unfortunately very few couriers ship perfumes, However, most companies, even small ones, have web pages now. Some might be willing to ship to you in SA. Contact them and see what they say.
Just don't ship to any AGS origin address or your order will be destroyed.

I will have a look... I can get off eBay, but I'm guessing customs are going to be a bitch about it...

No you can't get it off ebay. Think about this - the seller will happily sell it to you. They post or courier it.

SA customs destroys it, or SA post office destroys it, or Aramex destroys it.

Only way is if you flew over there are fetched it yourself. Even then you would have to declare it as a hazardous substance and take your chances.

Just an update on service levels:
So I had an item arrive in JHB from New York on the 12th of December.
After following up the entire week last week and today there is still no update. Apparently it was only submitted for clearance at customs today... And today was the estimated date of delivery. Still needs to be released from customs and sent to Cape Town.
And finally they have my shipment charges. Paid straight away.

Express people pay more money. Their shipments get cleared first. AGS shipments must just wait.
It's almost Christmas, so there must be many express parcels to be cleared first.
It's simply a case of you get what you pay for.

I must admit, when buying from Amazon and letting them ship directly, was very nice with Aramex.
Literally cleared customs while on the flight from NY to JHB. That was awesome actually. Then today package delivered at 9am at home.

For interest sake, do you have an import permit. If not, what is the most items you have imported within a calendar year without questions asked?

Hasn't it always been like this? When I've purchased from Amazon, customs etc have been taken care of , and item delivered without any issues.

Do you set billing address as your own or the one provided by AGS?
