The parcel I ordered has been on hold in France for 2 weeks now eventhough I uploaded the invoice. I've only shipped from the US or UK which take a week to deliver to my house, so does it usually take this long to ship from France?

Came to this forum to bitch and I see you also have issues with a package from France. I have a package that was delivered to AGS France address on 28 June. Olivia was following up on this package and I received an email from her this morning stating they are going to process a refund to the value of my item.

Seems like the useless French guys are not picking up the phone or responding to emails. Olivia also spoke to the Dubai Head office and they said that they will try follow up with France but are also not getting through to them. She noted that they do usually take a bit longer than the rest but have never taken 2 weeks.

So we are all warned. Send to Germany or the UK. Avoid France.

I've been told that it takes longer from France and Germany because there aren't as many flights or there's no direct flights to RSA unlike NY or the UK.

I just ordered a 3d printer and it's in JHB now held in customs awaiting customer instructions? Ordered from Gearbest, but they valued it lower at $55 and I payed about $70 shipping, package weighs 9kg
What duties will I pay approximately?
PS. it came from Hong Kong and shipped International express

Um, it's not quite computer equipment, which has no duty. It's, almost electronic equipment, which has 15% duty, only it is a 3D printer.. Quite frankly, I have no idea how much duty you will pay.

Also, I suspect customs will require your invoice and proof of payment to verify the value that the shipper has stated. Or they'll take an inflated guess.

Kind of hoping they think it's computer equipment, as it is a printer after all :) then it'll be much less

Ok good because Gearbest did give me an invoice with the lower price stated and what it is, hopefully it will suffice, any ETA of when it will be released and I have to pay?

1 x Samsung Wireless Charging Stand. Hopefully they will release it Monday without any duty being levied, but this is customs we're talking about.
Yeah i hope they release mine too although I know I'll be paying taxes on mine though, what are the chances I'll have my package in hand before the end of the week?

Have most of you got an importers code for bringing in more than 3 parcels a year? Or do you keep it under that?
And has anyone ever been fined for not having the code?

Interested in this answer as I see myself buying more than 3 times a year from now on.

Not so far.

I have done 9 packages so far with AGS this year, but only 1 was above R200 and went through customs.

I actually received a phonecall that day from Aramex to ask if I have an importers code, but since I didn't he accepted my ID#. No fine, just paid the import tax.

Wow i am furious right now!!! My package that was supposed to be delivered today got delivered to the wrong person, heck i did'nt even know the courier delivered it! When i went to check my status it said delivered to Renandre, a person i've never even heard of! They did not even call to say they were on their way or waiting outside! WTH! I called the call centre and they will contact me in business hours again tomorrow and try to get in touch with the agent that was in charge of delivering my package. Damn how could they let this kind of thing happen??
I do not know where the parcel is at the moment

Thats quite normal, I have them deliver packages to my work address to reception all the time. Makes life so much easier. Then I just get an email that a package is waiting for me at reception.

But delivering to the wrong address...thats not on. Did you double check the address on your account?

Yep, you see i live on an airforce base, and that is not a problem they have delivered to me before and i used the same address again, they just call me, i meet them at the gate, they hand me my package, i sign and its done. This time i did not even get a call! Just a big surprise that the package has already been handed to a stranger? I'm sorry but that is unacceptable
