Thats quite normal, I have them deliver packages to my work address to reception all the time. Makes life so much easier. Then I just get an email that a package is waiting for me at reception.

But delivering to the wrong address...thats not on. Did you double check the address on your account?
I am so lucky that I work from home and live on a main courier route. Yesterday I received two shipments, one in the morning in a fancy Aramex van straight from the Cape Town airport (10 minutes away), and my usual delivery man later that day.

When I order, I always order small orders from different sellers. If I'm fortunate, the parcels arrive at Springfield Gardens at the same time. When that happens, Aramex sometimes splits the delivery costs as they are travelling together.

I just ordered a 3d printer and it's in JHB now held in customs awaiting customer instructions? Ordered from Gearbest, but they valued it lower at $55 and I payed about $70 shipping, package weighs 9kg
What duties will I pay approximately?
PS. it came from Hong Kong and shipped International express

Which 3d printer did you get?

Hi People

Can i buy an item with free delivery on ebay and have it shipped to my UK or US address. Items with free delivery from China are taking forever to get here. My last item took 6months to get here. So with Aramex and using my foreign address, it could take 2 -3 weeks and worst case 1 month which is OK with me considering SAPO is now useless.

Change your default eBay address to the Springfield Gardens New York address. Then, when you browse eBay you will see 'fast and free'. This is priority or 2 day shipping to New York.

Aliexpress work differently. Their free shipping is almost always surface mail. Right now I have a parcel on its way to Hong Kong Aramex. The company is located in mainland China, so I used the HK address. They then shipped it from Singapore. Go figure.

It turns out that this has been way better than i expected. Aramex has taken 3 days to get my item from UK to doorstep. The item was recieved by UK Aramex on Tuesday and today its been delivered. I hope it is like that for every delivery.

Wow.

I've had a parcel that was received at Aramex on 30 July in the UK and it only left last night. I'll probably only get it in Cape Town on Monday

I requested an RMA on a faulty PSU (5 year warranty FTW), and they sent me a free replacement. Took a month to get here, but now I have to deal with customs... Should have asked the company to dropoff at Aramex depot in Taiwan.

Customs are still sloths, irrespective of how fast it gets here.

My 100g parcel has arrived in Hong Kong. I even have a photo of the wee fing. I wonder how much Aramex JHB will charge? Probably still R195.

not at all, they highly efficient, its all computerised. the sloths are the people working at the various couriers who have to submit the info to customs.

I have another item bought on 31st of July from New York. Its now arrived in SA, but this time it says "Held in Customs - Awaiting Customer Instructions". I have recieved a call though from Aramex and provided details required by Customs.
Will find out how long it will stay in Customs.

Held in customs means it is sitting in the cage at the Aramex depot waiting for their inefficient staff to submit the documents to customs.

Wasnt bad at all, lol. Picked it up yesterday (shipped from Taiwan on 29 June!).

Had to pay VAT on retail value of $100. R251 total with clearance fee. Even though its something i literally paid zero for.

EDIT: R200 For a 100g item! Just realised my power supply would have cost much more, at 3.5kg package weight.

It may have been R195 for this 100g item, but it was needed fast as it is a computer processor. As I am with FNB I get the R72 discount, so it actually works out cheaper than a courier price from JHB.

BTW, has anyone tried to track their parcel through aramex.co.za?
Much fancier tracking webpage than Aramex Global Shopper.

I use 17track on my phone, under aramex as courier. Then I just get notifications on my phone. Easiest IHMO.

Is it true that if I select auto pay then i cannot get the FNB discount
Don't select auto pay. Rather enter your details manually, they ask if they can store your card details, that's okay as it makes it easier to pay next time. You select auto pay and from then on you can't enter the promo code on checkout, so lose out.

That is more a question for Aramex, but as fast as I know, there is no duty as HK is not the end destination, and your parcel is entering a bonded warehouse to be sent on to SA.
You also could have used the Singapore Aramex Global Shopper address. Next time, look at the postage options on Aliexpress. If the seller is quoting shipping from Singapore, their merchandise is more than likely located there (even if the seller location says mainland China). You could save postage time.
