I have only ordered 2 things from Amazon and they held back the second package. Asking for documentation.

I sent everything to Aramex and now have to wait 5 days.

Did they say why you have to wait 5 days?

On a different note, I have just been informed that there are 2 parcels waiting for me in NY. I check and they are one order from one supplier who seems to have split my order into two parcels. I am less than pleased.

I ordered 3 packages from Amazon but got lucky, it was delivered in one order. I'm facing a different issue though. Aramex reckons the order is nearly double the shipping weight specified by Amazon. No way for me to dispute this though until I take delivery and weigh it myself.

I had this exact same problem earlier this year. I had the scale ready when Anthony arrived (the Cape Town Aramex delivery man).

Aramex was correct.

I guess suppliers provide the shipping weight numbers to Amazon and the reliability of those numbers probably do vary from supplier to supplier. Thanks, that actually sets my mind at ease.

Also, they give weight of item. Then it goes to a packer who adds packing material and sticks it in a double-walled shipping box.
You finally receive a brick.
Al least everything inside is in perfect condition. :D

Ouch. Hopefully Aramex took pity on you and reduced the shipping. They have been known to do that it if they see the boxes are from the same source, and all arrived at the same time.

Right, how the hell do I get hold of someone at Aramex's Customs section. The phone just goes into their hold queue for like 10 minutes or more and then drops...

They've managed to classify a Google Home as a Beauty Product (Code 3304.99.90/9) so are going to try and charge me 20% duties on it.

Aramex said that customs is very busy this time of the year so I can expect an answer in 5 to 7 days

If you still want a Google Home Mini you can still order one for $29 through the Google Store.
https://store.google.com/us/product/google_home_mini?hl=en-US

I wan't sure if I actually could order one as surely they pick up on my South African billing address, so I clicked BUY NOW...and...
I now own a coral one for R448.25. This makes the 2nd one I have ordered.

Billing address doesn't have SA, and all of the dropdown menus have US states and info.
How sure are you you'll get your package?
US only is stated everywhere..

I did not use Chrome, as it knows where I am located.
I used my Samsung Tab, which auto-filled the billing address as my South African address with USA as location and a zero before the post code.
Google seemed happy as the sale went through. I will only know for sure on 5th December when they ship it, but as the delivery address is New York I anticipate no problems (touches wood).

Ok cool thanks, in that case I think I'll wait and see :D

I'll have you know, Google shipped early. :D

I do nothing and the parcel always moves the next day.

My package has now been "Held in customs" for 7 days. No luck getting any feedback from Aramex other than to wait for customs to release it.

I have another two packages coming, interestingly both are on the same flight from Dubai today. One package is AGS and the other is normal Aramex Express. Let's see what the difference is in delivery time. The AGS package already has all the necessary documents uploaded (ID, invoice, credit card satement).

Mine has been in a status of "Held in customs - Awaiting Customer Feedback" since Thursday morning. Eventually phoned them this morning and and spoke to very pleasant gentleman who requested that I email him my invoice (which I did upload) and a copy of my ID (which they have on file). We'll see if this speeds up the process at all.

It's frustrating but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here as it's probably a crazy busy time of the year for them and as others have previously mentioned it is (the last time I checked) the most affordable mail forwarding service we have access to but we need to realise it may not be as snappy as other services.

My one parcel has been held in customs since Nov 03. As I import a lot of small parcels for resale (phone covers etc), this parcel is now on page 2 of my packages list and I have to constantly keep an eye on it.

The Aramex parcel will beat the AGS parcel hands down. You get what you pay for. I have a DHL parcel rocketing through, also express.

Aramex Global Shopper is nice, and sure beats the post office, but the word 'express' is not known there.
