I have since found out that certain companies do not have 3D secure. I was actually most surprised when 3D secure popped up when ordering from Turkey. It gave me the confidence to complete the sale. Now to get it delivered.

Regarding your parcel. First it says
Status: Record Created - They want invoice uploaded.
Then Status: In Account until it is actually shipped from NY

Much appreciated. Any idea how long it usually takes before seeing Record Created?

I read somewhere that BestBuy don't deliver to shipping addresses.

Do not, I repeat do not buy anything from BestBuy. They absolutely refuse to deal with foreigner purchases so if you have any issues with your order, they 1.) Ignore your emails / messages on social media 2.) Will immediately drop the phone as soon as you mention you're outside the USA 3.) Put you through to their robot call center.

Rather purchase from Amazon.

I have no problem whatsoever with Bluetooth speakers imported via Aramex Global Shopper. In fact the one I'm listening to right now is was imported through AGS.

I have imported the JBL flip 3 and the UE Roll.
I have NOT imported the JBL with the powerbank included (JBL Charge).

I order a lot from the US however the customs charges are applied using the highest duty item in a package for the entire package. Would pay for a service that would receive and store my goods for long enough until such time I arrive on their doorstep with my empty suitcase. Anyone know of such a service?

To answer my own question. It took 36 hours in this case.

My friend's brother rents a storage space in the US where he ships a bunch of stuff to. I'll try and find out how he arranged that.

How do customs work when there is a promotional item included in order for free, do I still have to pay customs for that item? I am ordering a wallet (again) but they are inluding a free wallet. Will I have to pay twice?

Thanks!

Aramex will charge you for any parcel they receive. Case in point - I ordered 2 x Samsung LED Wallet Covers, one black and one gold.
The supplier only sent the one, the parcel was short packed.
I complained and supplier immediately rolled, sending my missing LED cover.
Yesterday I received this from Aramex Global Shopper:
Hello,
Your package containing Phone/Mobile Accessories and weighing 0.25*lb under the Airway Bill No....

They then charged me R195 for my 0.25 lb parcel. :wtf:

Oh, reading back, I see you mentioned customs. You will only be charged for invoice amount. If something is included for free (sample), you won't get charged for it.

However, you may have to explain, should some sharp customs officer notice a difference between parcel contents and invoice.

I opened a ticket to have my address changed (the city field is not editable). 3 days later I check as I hadn't gotten a response yet and I see the ticket was closed without changing the address.

Sigh. Not such a big deal for me but these things will keep me from recommending them to anyone.

I did the same but they responded and said they usually put suburb as city.

They find me. They always find me, despite my suburb being Cambridge Estate. I live in Parow, not Cambridge Estate, but in this world of GPS all anyone needs to do is type in the number and street name. Unless you are very unlucky and there are more than one street in your vicinity with the same name, the GPS will find you as well.
Oh, and they get close with your shipping number prefix as well - CPT for Cape Town, JHB for you lot up north, etc. :)

Just bought a Google Home Mini on eBay.
Sold by Google, reduced by 40% from $49 to $29, and I get a $10 eBay gift card.
This is a USA only deal. I like being American.

If you still want a Google Home Mini you can still order one for $29 through the Google Store.
https://store.google.com/us/product/google_home_mini?hl=en-US

I wan't sure if I actually could order one as surely they pick up on my South African billing address, so I clicked BUY NOW...and...
I now own a coral one for R448.25. This makes the 2nd one I have ordered.

Really not happy with AGS. I ordered a package from China, sent to Singapore AGS address. Everything went smoothly. On Monday, I received an SMS that Customs want to see proof-of-payment to the supplier. The package contains a few 3D printer parts of low value (fans, print bed surface, foam insulation totalling US$17). I guess customs didn't believe the parts were actually that cheap.
I sent through the AliExpress financial page to the e-mail address given in the Aramex SMS, the person dealing with my Customs clearance. Tuesday, I hear nothing back. Wednesday I ask what's going on. No reply. I CC in the 7 people I have had contact with from Aramex since joining AGS. No feedback. The call center says no-one is answering phoned at the airport branch dealing with customs. Finally Olivia responds and says that the document I provided on Monday won't work and they need a credit card statement. They haven't even submitted my papers to customs yet. Aramex wasted 48 hours doing nothing. Today, my package is still with customs, and I don't think they submitted the paperwork yet either.

Meanwhile, I ordered a few things off Gearbest which uses normal Aramex. They phoned when the parcel arrived in South Africa to get my ID number and invoice and payment details, and the package passed through customs in a few minutes. AGS really is the lowest tier of service they can provide.
