I would send in the PayPal invoice. It should suffice. I think they are trying to get the people that try and dodge paying customs duty by saying it was a gift from Auntie.

Fitbit refuses to send me a commercial invoice. They reckon an order confirmation is the same thing as an invoice and after having fights with them on three separate devices they still refuse to budge on this. They're now refusing to even answer any of my emails related to this. If this is enforced by Aramex (or perhaps it's SARS) we may be in for a hard time when it comes to getting items into SA.

If they really wont accept paypal/ebay invoices, then erm I guess thats the end of using AGS for me. Too bad I have 1 item on the way to AGS

An invoice from a company is a commercial invoice. What they are saying is that they won't accept private invoices.
If you get a hand-written receipt from someone they won't accept it. Hand-written receipt with company stamp... maybe (but probably not).
As we mostly order from major companies (and not from a small shop with hand-written invoices), I think we will be okay doing exactly as we have been doing.
Yea, I got a phone call explaining it like that as well. I just hold thumbs my next parcel doesnt encounter issues.

PayPal invoice sorts that out... but suddenly things that didn't require duties - now do.
I doubt that the "below R400 no duty" unwritten rule has been thrown out the window. That is entirely up to customs, not AGS.

Power Banks and Standalone Batteries are now unacceptable Received On: 10/09/2016

Normal Aramex still ship battery products(from anywhere) but the clearance fee is R300 not R50 like AGS.
If your parcel is more than 1.5kg and contain batteries, in most cases it will still work out cheaper than using DHL(or AGS if low value items are shipped) if the company supports direct Aramex shipping. But 90% of companies only support DHL/EMS or airmail. Parcels from China that contain any kind of battery even if inside the device is also banned from being shipped by AGS(but not with Aramex direct shipping) but from the US/Europe they can still be shipped if inside the device.
If someone in a AGS supported country buys something on their name and the invoice has their name on, that parcel can also be shipped to you if it is a printed invoice.
I had this problem and the person sending me a parcel could luckily get a copy of the invoice from the place he bought it a couple of weeks ago that he didn't have anymore. I was a bit stressed on what would happen and airmail shipping would have taken several weeks with no way to track the parcel.

Get Auntie to post it EMS. At least that way you have a chance of getting it through our wonderful, super efficient, post office.

Aah that sucks balls. Now you have to go through all this cack if you get a gift from overseas. And im expecting a few things being sent as well from a friend. Meh

Don't knock EMS. It is the post office courier division and things usually take about 3 days to reach your door (you have to sign, like any other courier service).

Nah im more concerned with customs etc... Previously i got burned, and even though it was marked as a gift, i had to pay for it to be released. So i ended up paying more for the actual thing.
