Aramex global shopper

Unrelated, but shows what a poephol I am. Recently sold a UPS "without battery" and sent it with Aramex Store-to-door. It was rather heavy but since the battery was good and also prohibited to send I figured R60 for a UPS "without battery" was a good deal.

Only thing is when I later wanted to install the battery in another UPS I realised - I never took it out of the UPS

Someone got a lucky break because you were too lazy to take it out. Good for them. You'd be a p-hol if they did it the other way around or sent a brick instead of the battery.

Apologies if this has been asked before, I did a search but couldn't find anything.

First time using AGS and I have a $250 item en route with them, its very light in weight and they have put the value of the item as $30 on the shipping details. My question is, should I risk it and hope customs don't ask for an invoice? Or just upload the invoice and pay the duty when the time comes?

Once they receive it you will get an email notifying you about it, then you can upload an invoice. In fact, I have just done so for one of my packages.

Need to by a satellite for my mesh network, unfortunately us version is only 120v and satellite router only available in india but not shipping to SA. Was about to purchase of amazon india, but they apparently give you an otp that is given upon delivery (As was shown in purchase screen)

would this be a problem? Has any one had any experience buying from India?

You submit the commercial invoice to Aramex that is to be used for customs clearance, not Amazon. So you can fix it up the invoice from Amazon in Word or Photoshop first if you need to before uploading it. Done it quite a few times. Nothing wrong with that if you aren't doing it to under-declare the value.

I think you misunderstood me.
Amazon india isssues you a otp on the delivery day. This otp must be given to the delivery person by the person accepting delivery(in this case aramex)

Eg.
On delivery day amazon issues you an otp
Courier guy pitches up to delivery address.
He asks receiver for otp, once given he hands over parcel.07FFB0A4-CD4B-4BDF-8A6F-66B9042C8055.jpeg

According to this tweet:
You need to send the pin and tracking number, as well as your "Shop and Ship box number" (aka AGS box# such as CPTxxx or JNBxxx), to [email protected] for this to work. Shop and ship is the original name for AGS elsewhere in the world, but was already registered in SA which is why its called AGS here.

Although I now notice the "LON" in the email address. You probably need an India specific email address for this.

I just noticed that email address has LON in it. You might need a india specific email address.

Definitely contact AGS/Aramex to get the correct address to send the pin to.
I‘m glad I didnt purchase the item, it seems like there is a risk of it being failed to deliver…a risk im not willing to take

Planning to get a phone from aliexpress. Im wondering if anyone has tried this before?
Im planning on shipping to dubai, then having it forwarded to Sa. Any idea if I would need to pay customs twice ?

Why do you need AGS to shop from Aliexpress when they deliver directly from China to SA.

Dubai is duty free but you pay when it lands in SA

Some sellers don't offer DHL it's only SAPO. Once shipped to Hong Kong then RSA with AGS but the Aliexpress to HK took some time.

I have now made this mistake. Ordered something from ebay - apparently last mile is with SAPO. Its currently been with them since 16 March.
their eta 28 April

I know a bit off the topic. How does one get a domestic tracking number from sapo . I have the usps one

They stopped providing the local tracking number to customers. They used to but now they just don't give it.
Thanks, so all I can do is wait, if it does not come by their eta date file a complaint with ebay. Can’t believe ebay uses sapo.

Unfortunately. There are some things you can do.

1. Majority of a tracking, including some of the SA tracking is available on 17track.

Once 17 Track shows it landed in SA, usually a singular line like "Incomming JHB xxx" (yes SAPO can't spell incoming), then you move on to

2. Sometimes 17track say @ delivery office, then check http://globaltracktrace.ptc.post/gtt.web/
I have a note that "Arrival at delivery office ZA15223" is not final office, but still Cape Mail Hub. But I think my local delivery office lied. At this step, its actually at my local delivery office accodring to the delivery truck that delivered it there, however they have then not scanned it in yet so I am actually a day too early there. So I generally wait a day or 2 after that line to go pick it up. Anyways, this URL gives better tracking than https://trackingnew.postoffice.co.za/ (using the international tracking code) most of the time, which only list Incomming and delivered I think.
