 That dude did no hard work for that rig. He bought the completed control panel. He even got the hyperspin guys out to set that up for him :(.
(yes I'm jealous)

That's cheating. The fun is in building the cabinet :)

he probably has a button hidden beneath the player 1 controls that gives him bonuses/coins/rings/health/ammo/powerups/combo's/finishing moves/new weapons/extra lives/growing mushrooms/extra speed/level skipping/clipping/god-mode/strength/shields/rapid-fire/invisibility/unlimited blocking/flying and so on...

:D

still though, that's a dream system imo - or at least, his collection of roms....

I agree. I also don't like the control panels that big. The games are all going to be stretched as well, since it's a widescreen lcd. I prefer a normal arcade cabinet over something like that.

Ok, against recommendation I did some work on the cabinet today.
I'm paying for it now tho, my sprained wrists are aching.

Anyways:

The marquee is finished, well almost:

All I have to do now is take a fine brush and put some back paint in the corners.
This pic is at an angle to show the hight of the letters. The "Mini" is slightly lower than the "Mame"

Held up to the light:

I also put a second coat on the cabinet, so depending on how it looks dry I might be able to put the blue highlights on tomorrow. Then a clear coat on the weekend.

I will have the control panel printed next week, probably the tron bike one now, no one likes the original one :p
Then I just have to fit the components, get a light for the marquee and some alu angle to hold the marquee on. Then just the t-edging and its finished.

ETA end of next week.

Madman, I would suggest you do either a complete tron theme, or a complete Mame theme

for example, you have made a mame marquee - but want tron graphics? now it's half/half......
why not just stick to the blue style (if you are going to put a blue light behind the marquee) ?

also, if you use 1 theme - it might get old - an "abstract" theme, like a nice blue design of some sort, might last longer?

i'm just thinking man, such an Awesome marquee - why not keep at that theme - it works!

Ok, I was thinking about colours, not so much about mixing mame and tron. (good point)
Mame it is then

check this out for example:

yours would look awesome like that, with your current marquee. never use multiple colours - 2 at most!

I like that.

I would have made it so that the horizontal grid lines are parallel to the bottom edge of the panel and letting them meet in the middle like you have done.. So almost looks like angled mirror reflections..

Would also line up with the buttons

madman - just e-mail me a blueprint of your control panel, and let me take care of it.
