Yes
P1_B6 + P1_Start
P1_B6 + P2_Start
P2_B6 + P1_Start
P2_B6 + P2_Start

that's 4 combinations - and the rest?

Madman will have 24 Extra keys, with just 2 extra shift buttons

The rest for what??? Pause, exit.... what else?

Then why not use P1-Start as shift.

P1 start + Button1
P1 start + Button2
P1 start + Button3
P1 start + Button4
P1 start + Button5
P1 start + Button6

Don't see why you need so many combinations?

The cabinet is DONE!

The completed cabinet before all the fittings:

Thanks to Keeper for the CP graphic.

Overall, except for one or two things I am going to fix, I am happy with the result.
I made a lot of mistakes, but the next cabinet I make (full size) will be much nicer.

I now need to get a fan cover for the fan in the door, and I might need to reprint the control panel graphic.
I had the CP graphic printed yesterday, and although I left it for about 4 hours to dry, I think I probably should have left it overnight. I overlaminated it with some clear viny and fitted it last night, and when I went out this morning it had formed small bubbles all over the place. I'm hoping that the will dissipate by themselves, but I doubt it. Complicating things is that I made the holes for the buttons half a mm too small so I had to force them in there. Changing the graphic is going to be a job and a half.

@RVZ: Thanks for the push and the encouragement!
I'm having a bit of a problem with the Ultrastiks, I have to run the software and upload the direction map everytime I start the PC before the joysticks will work. Did you experience this problem? Do you use direction maps for your games, or do you just leave them on analog?

Looks Awesome MM88, love it!

it looks like the guys printed it extremely dark? or is it just the reflections/camera in the pic that is doing that....?

Thanks!

It is a bit dark, but not as dark as it looks in the pic. The problem is that the bright screen makes the panel look dark in the pics, I will turn it off later and take a pic like that.

Ok I figured out the problem with the Ultrastiks, well, got around it anyway.
I just run the command line to program the analog map in a batch file on start up.

That said I am having some trouble with Hyperspin. It all works fine until I press the genre button on the CP. Then it seems to lock hyperspin up.
I can go into genre via the keyboard no problem but then it seems to disable the U360's after that.
Its not critical, since I plan to only have it on the favorites part of hyperspin most of the time, but it is annoying.

The other thing I'm trying to figure out now, is how to bind the ESC key to a combination of buttons in Mame so I can exit the games without the keyboard.

Can't you tell your ultrastick to press ESC if you hold the two shift buttons?

Ok I think I have found a way to do it. (and more!)

I found a program called Joy2Key
It basically maps different keys to joystick functions.
So I'm going to disable the joysticks in Hyperspin and see if I can just map the joysticks to use certain keys.
Then I will just map button 15 (shift 7) to ESC to exit mame.

Well done, looks great! :) That was quite a fast build.

Yup, you learn a lot the first time. The next time will be a lot easier.

NP. Don't have any problems with mine. I did have a very minor centering issue on the one joystick, but the mapping software quickly sorted that out.

Hey there, new to the thread but just as interested in starting my first mame project

have a bit of woodwork experience, built a poker table and bar before, now for something a bit more entertaining
have ordered ultrastik parts and waiting to get started.

Question however on mame roms,
downloaded new mame version 0.139 and have been trying to get roms from all over.
couple work but most display - roms or chds missing
is this due to new version of mame and old roms or any other explanation

how do i get around this?
Good sites for reliable game downloads? or is getting the roms burnt to disc a better idea?

I've also had numerous problems getting roms to work. roms are very version specific.

Try this link - tell you what roms require what mame version.

In the end I gave up and aquired a DVD with a mame version and a ton of games on it.

CHD's are usually for the games that required a Hard Drive - like killer instinct, and the Dance dance revolution games.

A good source? all I can tell you is "Emucation"

I use that one as well. Also a few from RomNation.

I managed to get my hands on Dragon's Lair as well - a classic!!!

I would love to get my hands on that and the other Daphne roms..

Hyperspin is annoying me a bit. It does not like the Ultrastiks.
Sometimes it just locks up. Then I have to plug in the keyboard and kill the hyperspin process and restart it.
I'm thinking about trying Maximus Arcade, anyone here used it?

My son (who will be 2 in Nov) is loving the arcade machine.

There's not a lot of them, but they're big. I have the full set, just under 20gb.

Astron Belt
Badlands
Bega's Battle
Cliff Hanger
Cobra Command
Dragon's Lair
Dragon's Lair 2
Esh's Aurunmilla
Galaxy Ranger
GP World
Interstellar Laser Fantasy
Mach 3
Road Blaster
Space Ace
Super Don Quix-ote
Thayer's Quest
Us vs Them

I don't think it's Hyperspin, haven't had a single issue on my side yet. I used Maximus Arcade before, you won't want to go from Hyperspin to that. ;)
