Arcane for raiding

Warlock's strong point is that its a fun class to play. I dont care that you wouldnt want a warlock in your raid because I wouldnt want to be in your raid as its seems more like a job than a game.

Aren't all classes fun to play?

holy crap some classes have been nerfed and others buffed in World of Warcraft, zomg whut next, call the whaaambulance.

I'm at a loss here, are you referring to arcane in PvP or PvE? It seems like PvE seeing as you're mentioning a PuG. What the hell are taking damage from? Mages don't tank mobs bro. Also if you're referring to raid damage then you have some truly horrible healers.

Yup.. I was just doing TOC normal :(

Ye well the only encounter you should take loads of damage on is Faction Champs. Otherwise it's a healer issue or you're not running away from, Infernals/Fire on the Ground, Orb Stuff.

Also Faction Champs is so much fun...

"So basically the melee run around and just 1 shot people while being un-cc'able?"
"Ye."
"Wow, this really is like PvP."

Ok since we all calmed down and we have a few mage experts here, i want to ask this slightly off topic question. In pvp and pve (leveling and doing dailies etc.) is it better to use frostbolt or frostfire bolt? as a frostmage

Frostbolt is best. Frostfire would only be better is you're going to be Arcane POM FFB spec (PvP)

FrostFire is a nice PvE spec to start off with, but you only get it from level 75, so not much of a leveling spec :)

Btw Odom...nice way of quoting me incorrectly there. I'm not the one who said that. I do however agree with said poster :)

Im no mage expert but heres my 2 cents.

Doesnt frostbolt get served faster than frostfire? I think the casting time of my bolt is 2.2 seconds, and of my frostfire 2.8 seconds.

In PVE.. like dailies and such... I always use my standard frostbolt.. it gets served quicker and the more I get out, the more chance I have to crit and thereby get fingers of frost and brainfreeze combos going.

Generally its the same for me in PvP... except if I am targeting a rogue.. the dot that comes with frostfire stops the bugger from invisible on me.

As a Frostmage, def frostbolt ye, then make use of all your awesome procs.

btw, I guess with the new [Glyph of Eternal Water] - This glyph allows for a summoned Water Elemental to last indefinitely, but it can no longer cast Freeze, & Waterbolt costing 80% less they again trying to make Frost a viable PVE spec.

Allot of people think frost is fune right? And would like to PVE with it...?

PVP, the thing in imo anyway :), against good oponents in Arena (BG's are way different, so that does not count) it will be very very hard to get FFB off (unless its proc'd). They dont want you to make use of your procs.

That's only on the PTR. It will be like that in Cataclysm :)

If you want to raid as frost you use frostbolt. The only reason Frostfire was ever a viable alternative was that it double dipped bonuses from both frost and fire.

Also I have to ask:

Why would Frost really be any different from Fire? You're just mashing Frostbolt while waiting for Brain Freeze to proc and cast a Fireball. Fire is just mashing Fireball while waiting for Combustion to proc so you can let off a Pyroblast. You'll have a pet as Frost but all it's gonna be doing is casting Waterbolt non-stop.

Hey it could be a lot worse !

"Target not in range, Target not in range, Target not in Range"

"You need to be behind the target... You need to be behind the target... You need to be behind the target"

No thank you... ranged DPS all the way baby !

Tanking > all atleast it takes some work...being in the mist of all the action taking the big hits. Moving, doing tps, remebering too use ur cds intervening that noob dps that is over aggroing yet again taunting off a silly caster thinking he can tank etc.

fun stuff. Casters are fun at times. Melee dps are the people working their arse off though

Tanking in my opinion isn't that much better. No tanks have a hard rotation at all. About using C/D's well DBM/Big Wigs, hell even Blizzard now have in-game warnings when a big hit is a bout to come. Mash random C/D, soak big hit, continue bashing tanking macro. With regard to over-aggro unless it's a gimmick fight you should always be out TPS'ing your DPS. If you're not, you're either a tad under-geared, or they're over-geared, or you're doing it wrong.

Edit

lol just read this

Which melee DPS is this?

http://code.google.com/p/simulationcraft/wiki/SampleOutputT9

Fury Warrior: 25% of DPS = White hits
Arms Warrior: 27% of DPS = White hits
Muti Rogue: 51% of DPS = White hits
Combat Rogue: 54% of DPS = White hits
Feral Druid: 40% of DPS = White hits
Ret Paladin: 20% of DPS = White hits

Of those I'd wager Fury warrior and Mutilate rogue probably have the most demanding rotations.

Melee isn't hard at all assuming the boss isn't moved around too much and even then movement only messes with us because of latency.
