Article: DA apologises for fake ANC pamphlets

As a DA voter I hold them in higher regard than the ANC, as do most I would imagine. This type of misinformation is EXACTLY that sort of crap that the ANC want the DA to fall for.
 
We can't expect anybody to be perfect but if a mistake is made they must man up. And it seems they did.

Not just man up, but be held to account. When the stakes are high, it's tempting to resort to underhanded tactics. Sending out pamphlets from another party (without making note that this is a DA campaign somewhere in a footnote at least) is poor form and those involved should be removed from a position where they can do this again.

If they can make such a bad decision, I do not want them in a position where they can make even worse ones.

Why? a staff member gets out of hand, the DA apologizes for it and admits it does wrong and wont do it again. If you are expecting absolute perfection from a political party I advise you stop following politics right now as you will always be disappointed. How they deal with the bad things like this that happen in the party is the telling sign. The DA is a huuuge party. People make mistakes.

This was probably a junior activist. Who I recon is going to be in huge trouble now.

I agree 100% with you.

I find it disgusting that the DA would go to such levels. But some posters here claimed the ANC have never done such a thing and I just wanted to point out they have done it in the 1999 election.

Also I know 2 wrongs does not make a right :)
 
If the DA have now adopted the "if you can't beat them, join them" method of political campaigning, they have lost my vote. I would want to see the DA taken quick action on this underhand 'a-la-ANC' electioneering tactic, otherwise they could lose a lot of support
 
I am very dissapointed in zille for letting the poster go to the printer and then to lie on it also still now I need to find something else to vote for

Why would Zille have seen this poster? Its a local poster for a local campaign. When you use the term "letting" it implies she had knowledge on the poster. Which is dishonest from your side. Weasel words.

Because I would expect people who have the responsibility and authority to allow something to be released would know better - the fact that a junior activist can cause such embarrassment DOES reflect badly on a party no matter how you spin it.

No, I don't expect perfection, but yes I do expect high standards and I WILL express my disappointment when they're not met.

Im not spinning it, Im telling it as it is. The person who had oversight admitted there was no oversight and apologized for it. Do you want them to tar and feather people instead? :confused:

Thats excellent, express, them. Hopefully you will be realistic in those expressions.

At the end of the day massive parts of the DA are volunteers. Sometimes they are overly enthusiastic. I expect this member to get into a world of trouble so Im sure you will have your pound of flesh for this. I would hate to be in that office today.

Agreed. Poor form. But lets see how this pans out and what action is taken. Just hope they don't shift blame and pin it on a "junior' because it is the responsibility of the manager or accounting official to oversee it.

I imagine a dc (disciplinary committee) has already been called in to investigate.

But then fundamentally, there is something wrong with the policies of the DA, if an over-enthusiastic demonstration of the party's policies leads to something like this...
