Article: Eat dairy with caution: Noakes

Google defines diet as " the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats", thus what Noakes calls a lifestyle©®™, is in fact a diet.
He is using another word to try and distance his diet from the rest of the failed dieting "revolutions" .

My word. If you don't realise what the differences in the general term 'diet' and the application of the word to denote a change in 'diet' to be healthier and/or lose fat are then you need to go through it slowly.

Do any of us who use this actually care about all the haters having their 15 minutes of fame in this thread? I know I don't. It's worked bloody well for me and I'm still on it because I've adapted to it and it's now my 'lifestyle'.

Too much of idiotic lips flapping ........

True. It doesn't help their cases if they don't even bother to read things properly.

I should write a book that you can eat and drink whatever you like and will lose weight but it will only be one line. Burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight, the end.

This is not a newfangled diet involving bizarre strategies and supplements that you’ll never be able to stick to. Rather, it’s a return to your dietary roots, bringing you back to the way humans are meant to eat and returning your body and mind back to the trim, happy, energised state our ancestors experienced thousands of years ago. They didn’t get fat or suffer from obesity, diabetes or other lifestyle illnesses.

You mean to this?

"Control your dairy. Although dairy is good for you, it does contain carbs and can be a stumbling
block for some. In your Banting beginning, perhaps avoid eating too much dairy. Butter is still good!"

Our ancestors never got fat for the sole reason that everyone was expected to contribute to the family and the food gained will be shared between all.
Our ancestors had no choice but to run after that animal or starve to death. There were no such things as processed food, the closest being ground up grain(wheat, barley, corn) to make flour, which is also why they didnt suffer with weight related illness.

People get fat and experience illness because of not earning your right to eat the food you eat.You cant sit at a desk all day and think its dandy to eat whatever and then complain when you have a weight related illness or put on some weight.

Amen to that.Simply math.

Ketosis(Banting diet) is a fat burning state and long term effects of this hasnt been established.I use ketosis to burn fat in summer time, but i only do it a week at a time, as i am not a person that can cut carbs completely out of my life(without going batschit crazy).

A bold claim. Citation?

Milk contains lactose, a type of sugar, so I'm surprised Noakes ever gave dairy products "all-you-can-eat" status in the first place.

If you take the Paleo diet concept to its logical conclusion, one ought actually to eat your meat raw, like our ancestors did.

This. It's quite simple. Want to lose weight? Eat less.

Naturalistic fallacy. Just because it is natural, doesn't mean it is good for you. Ebola for example is a lovely example or nature.

As for lifestyle diseases, most people didn't get past 40 so you would struggle to find anyone with symptomatic heart disease anyway. Add that to the fact that most people had to do lots of physical exertion to get food.

The really funny thing about your healthy carbless ancestor theory is that people have been eating bread and cards for thousands of years.

The last thing I want to add is this:
Removing a major food group is from your diet and not calling it a diet is rubbish.

The average age of death for hunter-gatherers who survived past 15 was 72, so I find your conclusion a bit lacking.

In fact, Noakes, et al are encouraging us to add to our food things were previously abhorred all the while preaching moderation in things such as carbs and protein. You won't be doing this until you achieve goal weight, you will do it for the rest of your life.

Here here.

Fall over due to too little sugar? Go into renal failure due to too much protein? Seriously?

They never did for weight loss.

Were the fires just to help them find the cave entrance to pee at night, then?
