Article: Motorist arrested for R200 bribe

It does help to have *some* proof if you're contributing to a debate.

For example your study that *shows one passing out after half a glass of beer simply makes one question your credibility and any other facts will be dismissed - subconsiously or not.

You're more than welcome to add - but if you can't back anything up, your comments will be overlooked very quickly

* added for effect

LOL. where did I, in any of my posts, say that 1 drink will cause you to pass out? Now you are just making things up. All I said was that one drink does cause impairment. Refute it if you must.

ok he exaggerated a bit, but you certainly said more than impairment

It means that from the first drink you start acting like a moron, have no inhibitions, no sense of consequence, and are incapable of making any kind of judgment calls.

From 1 drink? Hardly,

Dude, when telling us about studies it would help if we could get a link...just one, to these studies. Not a thesis, or anything ridiculous. Just a link, to substantiate your claim.
I dont think thats too much to ask. Sure, you can have opinions, and you can express them. But when you say things like a study was done etc etc...it is no longer your opinion, its evidence/scientific studies that could be used to perhaps shed light or sway an argument.

Considering you cannot come up with this, I will take it that it was something heard from a friend of a friend and has been skewed through the communications..

As I have already pointed out, I saw it on TV. And it was a long time ago so I may be remembering wrong. Again, it's just an opinion. Opinions are personal beliefs that are expressed and may be wrong. So what.

And I did apologize for sounding like a nut already. Sorry, sorry and a thousand times more, sorry.

Fair enough, but you stated it as fact.

btw, interesting to note,
if you have ever gotten up at 6am, worked etc, and driven past 9pm at night you are likely to have similar degradation as those people who have been drinking. Drive after 10:30 and you are the same as someone who is on or over the alcohol limit
(i just thought it was interesting...no real reason behind it)

/EDIT/ and repeated nights of restless sleep can have the same effect

Wow, Ive been beaten up, chewed on and spat out. I will never type my opinion on mybb ever again. Others can exaggerate but I'm not allowed too. Got it.

yeah dude, now you are just whinging. I said he exaggerated, i even said earlier dolby should not have taken the risk in the first place.
Chin up, tomorrow is another day

Here's a little something to ponder:

Allowing individuals to see that their subjective reports of the intensity of intoxication do not correlate with their observed cognitive performance might underscore the real risk with respect to the decision to drive when alcohol impaired. The bottom line is that subjective perception of intoxication is a poor indicator of sobriety and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Have a read of the full article; pretty interesting stuff.

Oh please, Mybb is used by everyone to express there opinions all the time. Doesn't mean that we have to have a doctorate, thesis, 100 website links and a swearing in by a court official to express those opinions. Those opinions are every bit as valid as yours. If this is the case, please provide proof as to your opinion that one can not have an opinion unless we have experienced the situation first hand. I have an opinion that war is hell based on what I read, does that make my opinion wrong because I've never been to war.

And for the record, i have been asked for bribes before, haven't payed one in my life and never intend to.

O' goody, goody, someone is excited

Don't go, we like you (well I like you ;)) and your opinion is just that, YOURS.

"In this study, individuals were asked to consume alcoholic drinks over an 8-hour period to bring their BAC up to 0.10 percent and then to return to a normal BAC.raising your BAC up to 0.10% and then return to normal BAC level"

A pity they don't state how many drinks it took to raise one's BAC.

I was just being a A-hole. I'm not going anywhere. And yeah, it is my opinion. I already said that. But you'd be surprised to know that there are others that don't like people to drink and drive. Go to ArriveAlive.co.za.

That would depend on the individual wouldn't it?

Interesting thread

I am not going to comment on the whole "at what level am I drunk" thing.

With regard to bribes if you are asked for one that is for your own conscience, however offering a bribe or payment of a spot fine is playing with fire, since many cops will be only to happy to arrest you for bribery. So don’t come crying if you get nailed.

With regard to unlawful arrest that is a laugh, on your docket you will see reason for arrest and it will state SUSPICION of drunken driving. You are arrested so that you can be taken to have your blood drawn, once that is done you are either held until you are sober or someone can come and collect you. However if there is also a charge of Reckless and Negligent Driving then you will stay in the cells till the first available court appearance (Don’t get arrested on the weekend)

You used to be able to refuse to take the breathalyzer (Not sure about Draeger system), but you can not refuse to have blood drawn and you can be restrained if necessary. PS rather take the breathalyzer it is far easier than going to a provincial hospital to have blood drawn by some foreign doctor, they scare me when they draw blood.

Personally I don’t like drunk drivers; I have seen to many of them walk away from accidents unscathed while their victims are badly injured.
