Any jobs coming up in Afrihost? Would find and sell momma hen teeth to work at Afrihost.

What practical steps can ordinary South Africans take to help make broadband in the country better?

Where do you see the average broadband speed and price being at in South Africa in the next 5, 10 and 15 years?

Hey Gian, hope you are doing well.

I'm sure many will ask about FFTH and various other internet related things so I won't bore you with those types of questions.

My question is a little open ended.

1) How did you come up with the name "Afrihost"

That's it from me, hope you have a great day!

I have a Mobile data package with a WiFi device. I love the Afrihost offering, but I have terrible MTN signal at my home. Is there anything I can do to boost the signal?

What cellphone do you use for business? Do you have a separate one for personal use? Do you prefer Android or Apple?

Before Afrihost was the giant it is today, when it was nothing more than a dream shared by you and the co-founders, what drove you and your friends to grow it into what it would eventually become today?

Sincerely sought answer to a burning question please:-

When it is clear to many critical thinking people, that the world's financial system is directed by a few who own or have controlling interests in:-

1) All central banks globally;
2) Key natural resources of sovereign countries globally;
3) All manner of global big corps;
4) All global main media conglomerates and their affiliates --

How come, sovereign countries, continue accepting, which surely is not a balanced or even a fair status quo as the extensive ownership/interests, of a few, not only impact global stock markets and the performance of global currencies daily, but make it virtually impossible for any sovereign country -- specifically emerging market countries -- to determine and set the course for stable ongoing growth by instituting their own fiscal and economic policies, in tandem with their individual needs?

Regarding the downtime of shared hosting sites for an hour on Saturday morning - What is Afrihost's policy as far as pro active client notification of these network issues are concerned?

We used to be a very happy Afrihost adsl uncapped clients but Afrihost swtich to mtn backbone resulted in us receiving an erratic snail paced connection with plenty of router restartd. We then changed to Crystalweb & currently receiving superb connection, speed, etc. etc.
There is a premise "change is good" vs "if it aint broken, dont try to fix it". How many clients has Afrihost lost like myself? With hindsight was it a good move to switch to mtn?

Dear Gian Visser thank you for providing us with the awesome data prices.

*My question would be how have you ensured that the 10c per MB rate is really constant because I've encountered situations where other service providers will offer for example I'll say 50c per MB but only to find that you can't even download a 1MB file with R2 ? I'm not saying that your 10c per MB rate will give me exactly 10mb but will it at least give me 8mb with R1 in my account?*

Thank you!! ‎

Afrihost Ceo Question

Hi there
I stay in a area were we have no landlines at all and cellular reception is 1% what would you recommend I can use for Internet at a lower cost as I have tried everything to get Internet but they all say I stay in a dead zone which is weird cause I'm between kempton and benoni Ah

In recent years Afrihost has expanded from DSL Broadband, to now also provide Mobile (with MTN) and data over Fibre. As broadband and technology grows, we are moving closer and closer to seeing proper digital TV services being fully realised in South Africa. Do you foresee Afrihost ever providing or collaborating in the supply of such digital TV service, with an all inclusive line, data and digital TV/media package?
