ASUS EEE PC - 7" Laptop

Try incredible corruption or something, they have many laptops about the same size, like the HP one... which should have a bag/case/cover option.

Indeed. I remember seeing that HP there now that you mention it. Was nearly R9k iirc :eek: But a little baggy for it will be nice :)

Its R6xxx now... saw it yesterday, thats the only reason I thought of Incredible Corruption.... Really nice lappy though, much lighter than the Asus, the had them next to each other.... 30GB HD, 1GB Ram, Webcam... etc.... :cool: The HD was my only issue... I like solid state.

Well R6k is still more than twice what the EEE is going for right now :)
 
I can't see why you would spend 6-9K on something like that: at the end of the day all you do with both machines is use it for the net and office.

yeah, I agree. For that kinda money you can get a fullsize decent lappie these days.


Also, I would love to be able to buy an extra bigger battery at some point as well...

Its nice to have something that portable as a 2nd laptop if you travel alot (like me).
 
Just got an ad from Chaos and they have the 2g Laptop one for R2300 and Chaos has a new store opening in Parklands tomorrow so it would be cheaper at the opening. I also saw they have a 500GB external HDD at the opening for R1050.Lot's more specials.

Hectic. R2300 is really a steal.
 
The ad was in the community newpaper The Post, that's the only place I saw the ad and the opening is today. Parklands is between Tableview and Melkbosstrand, Very close to Sunningdale.
 
my (probably unpopular) view is that the 9" will be a bit of a flop. and i'll probably eat my words in a years time, but so what, it is fun to make predictions.

and why will it flop? price. by the time they have the price all worked out, "normal" laptops will have dropped further. it is nice to have an eee at all the popular price points, 299, 399, 499, 599, but only the lowest price point will attract those who are bargain hunting for a cool toy. proper laptops will compete with the 9" eee directly, but have more features, bigger screens etc. if you want a light small lappy for travelling you will probably pick the cheapest one, which will be the 7" and is probably why the 7" is selling so well now.
