I am going to scream if it doesn't work this time!!
37 minutes to go....
Did you come right with the XP install?![]()
Was just about to post. Yes i did
Yay!
Install came in at less than 1GB. It's running nicely. I am loving it.![]()
And the bits and pieces are working ok [wireless etc]?
Glad you came right.![]()
hj2k_x, did you nLite your install? How small do you think one could realistically go with this laptop?
i.e, able to do most things, but leave the absolute non-essentials out. Wouldnt want to try connect to a printer for example, and have it conk out on me. I am really interested in getting this laptop, just gotta get some funds together first
...Would be great for those 3hour do-nothing periods at uni...
In other news, TAD is looking for donations
BTW, what are you doing about a carry case for the laptop? I would think that a regular laptop case leaves too much room to spare?
Didn't need to NLite the install. Was just a regular XP SP2 install. Came in at around 900MB in total once installed. I've since put on Openoffice, Vlc player and some other proggies and still have +-300MB left on the drive.
Am finding the lappie very fast and responsive. Am planning on expending the limited HDD space with some cheap SD cards at some point. For now, the occasional USB stick is working fine
I do need a carry case though. At the moment, I just carry it in my hands which is not a long term solution![]()
Sd/Micro SD cards would also be good because they fit right into the machine, but a little more expensive than flash drives I think.
Edit: 4GB SD card @ R159![]()
Yeah, I thought the carry case would become an issue...Still, I really want to get this laptop...
Asus should just give us poor (South) Africans free laptops![]()
Edit: I see it is R165 now and out of stock.
I dont know if they are available in South Africa, but carry cases for mobile dvd players are meant to be superb for the eee... You could try looking into that![]()
