Awesome Curry, decent prices

Not necessarily - although I have had wonderful food on my many trips to Mumbai.
Different parts of India is famous for different foods.
The food in the south are generraly stronger than the north.
The South African Indians originate mainly from Tamil Nadu Province in the south or from Gujarat Province in the north. There is a lot of other places - it is a HUGE country - and you get good and not-so-good food everywhere.

The food I had in Mumbai, Nashik and Kolhapur was all fantastic! I loved it. Better than anything I have ever had here.

Your normal garden variety South African Indian born & bred. The previous owners were not from here, did not look like them or talk like them, they were imports :D

We always have a laugh when we see the "foreign Indians" in our neighbourhood, because we have developed a way of distInguishing them from the South African Indians - they have different hairstyles and they walk differently :D

I have had good and bad food experiences all over India, though I must admit the 'bad' had more to do with the Delhi belly effect than with the taste of the food.

The best food by far - as in all parts of the world - can be found in those small, obscure little restaurants in the middle of nowhere. Had the best biriyani of my life in a working class 'eating house' called The Silver Spoon in a town called Munnar a few hours away from Kochi.

How does one *not* waggle your head in the company of traditional Indian guys babbling seriously around you? I was the office joke after I returned from working in Dubai for a few weeks, until I managed to stop myself :D

Even when answering in the affirmative......

the head moves side to side..... weird.

Passage to India in Tableview is the best by far in Cape Town. Lamb Rogan josh, Bombay spuds & Naan bread. yum!!

Any other Cape Town recommendations? Bukhara (sp?) is overrated in my book. Had some good tandoori chicken at the one - forget the name - at the Newlands Hotel.

I am making a chicken curry right now ;)

Had some awesome flavours in the curry dishes served to us last night at Katima's in Hout Bay, a Thai restaurant. The price is well worth the quality, setting and service.

LOL, you would think I am curry crazy, not actually, first curry in months, its the cold weather here in Cape Town at the moment, makes you want to cook curry. :P
