Axxess changing to IS

Mmm Axxess dropped the ball badly here....been with them for 5 years. Will check out tonight, I definitely want Saix bandwidth and not IS...if this is the case I will drop them a mail tonight.
 
Just spoke to support, unshaped accounts wont change to IS according to Axxess
 
The product features page for their basic ADSL page indicates that the Shaped accounts are now offered for both IS and SAIX now, but the default account creation will be for IS. I'm not sure how they can get away charging the same price (R179 for 3gb shaped) for both IS an SAIX. I'd suggest that those who don't mind being on the IS backbone switch to an alternative ISP where for just R20 - R30 more, can get 3gb shaped and 30gb local. ie: WebAfrica - R220 or OpenWeb - R209, unless of course you can get the same with Axxess (3gb shaped and 30gb local at a price of R179), which is quite good value for money.
 
logged a ticket with support at 10:20, received a ticket response and a sms from them stating that I should change my account username to [email protected].s which I guess is now the SAIX realm.

I wrote quite a lengthy ticket asking for an explanation of this but instead received a one-liner - this is really no good from them.
 
We were gonna get axxess uncapped next month but now our company moved to iBurst because of this.....at least the internet is working now.

I'm pretty sure they had more than enough chance to "respond" xrapidx ... beforehand. It is not like you suddenly decide to do something this big overnight. It is a process that takes a bit longer and gives you ample time to inform your bread and butter of any changes that might affect them directly.

I cant believe how slow my internet connection went. I feel ripped off. I did not sign up for this crap!!

Should be interesting to see the 'new signup' stats for WA today&tomorrow compared to previous days. :D

true...it's almost like the banks...if FNB pi$$es me off I go to ABSA...if ABSA cocks up I go to Standard etc etc etc. WA better make sure their customer service is up to scratch for the next few months otherwise everybody will be switching back to Axxess...hehe
 
I'm using Axxess prepaid and I changed the dns servers to those suggested earlier in this thread and it seems to be working better *touch wood*.

I take it the [email protected] is for contract subscribers because it wouldn't connect when I tried it. Can't get through to their 086 nr. Are there any other settings I need to change?

Thanks to the input from webafrica. I will definitely consider that.

Mystery SMTP server?

Done the DNS change.
Does anyone know the new smtp server name?
 
Wierd thing here, my router is holding on to an IP, which according to afrinic belongs to IS, but my SAIX news server DL is flying like I have not seen it do in a long time, maxing my line speed. Using the news.saix.net addy...hmm confused. Browsing is stil dodge, having to refresh myBB page 3 to 4 times before it loads.
