Axxess Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

If you took the R1 special you are then obligated to take it for the rest of the month. Let me know if you come right getting your money back

I don't know what they did, but speeds are much better.
I just hope that this isn't just a holiday thing.
If it carries on like this I will stay with Axxess.

Much better yes. I've seen 300-400kb/s on international downloads since yesterday afternoon.
We'll have to wait and see what happens Tuesday..

Well in theory it should drop in the day again but be back to this level at night.

Hello Hello 400kb , very very nice.

How do you guys manage that? I am only hitting 50 - 60kB today. I will be happy if I can get anything above 200.

EDIT: Now hitting 150 - 200kB/s on astraweb. HTTP is still pretty much useless.

Heartbroken, is yours a new 4 meg line or have you always had one? The reason I ask is that a ton depends on your exchange, I ran 384 for a long time but when switched to 4meg they had to put me on a new pair as my existing ones died after about 3 months. Ny line has now been running @ 4 meg for two years so I would have avoided all the teething when I switched accounts now.

I manage between 390 - 410kB on the IS local accounts. Had the line since May 2008, but I also had a issue with my copper when I converted from 384, ran great for 3 or 4 months and then just died. Telkom replaced the wires to the street and all was good again. Hope its not the same story again...

Here's my 3 days experience of axxess 384 uncapped (starting on Thursday):

http://www.imageno.com/ww4wz2fx6ujtpic.html

I'm normally on Telkom 384/5Gb (not cancelled yet) so, in essence, I'm evaluating uncapped as an upgrade ie: the ability to use the net without worrying about caps. I went with Axxess because of past experience with their prepaid local, no contracts & the ability to pay via EFT.

Please note that the graph does not reflect my normal net usage, I usually fire up torrents & ftp downloads at night when needed. Windows updates are set to automatic and Ubuntu/Fedora updates are done on a ad-hoc basis, all updates are cached via Download Accelerator on the IPCop box to conserve bandwith. I would guess my "sweet spot" would be a 15Gb capped / mth contract in lieu of uncapped.

To date I'm satisfied with the uncapped experience, it's not perfect but it's early days yet (it's also a holiday weekend so next Tues thru Sat will be of more interest).

My greatest concern at the moment is the deafening silence from Telkom. Unlike others I've had years of good service from them - dialup, ISDN & ADSL - but if they don't come up with a similar offering in the next few months (and uncapped proves viable) I will be ditching them.

What graphing software do you use btw? Nm:P

Has anyone had any luck with rapidshare. I am not home at this stage, but up to Friday it was throttled to about 10kb/s. Hopefully things will be a bit better next week......

I have been getting pretty much full speeds on my 4 meg line since 9pm Thursday night. I only use megaupload premium and have done 108.78 GB so far this month. I was getting between 130 and 250KB/s during office hours before. I am happy with this product thus far

For the record, my 384 line has been running at 40KB/s almost the entire weekend. I can confirm that rapidshare is heavily throttled, only getting 5KB/s from them (free acc) compared with 25-30 on MEgaupload.

That could be true and rapidshare just plain sucks too. There are enough free mirrors out there for whatever you want to download. I tested hotfile and x7 and they work fine

Checking yesterdays logs I see the connection dropped 6 times for a few secs between 13:00 & 23:59, nothing so far today (almost never happens with Telkom).

Axxess possibly tuning things?
