I have subscribed to this service since it started as I like the uncapped facility but it is getting slower and slower. I don't know whether this a way of making one change to another service or what?

Can anyone be kind enough to recommend another ISP with an Uncapped facility please at more or less the same cost ie R196.00.

yep normal they throttle you, need to go to mweb or openweb gold for unthrottle uncapped.
 
Same here. I'm getting speeds around 10k/s for the past couple of days. On the 384 package for R196.00 too. My usage is just over 30 gigs and I'm shaped... in the night?????????
 
shaping is 24/7 over a rolling 10 day period
Afrihost shapes quite a bit with the 384kb line as well...it crawls once you go past their usage limit
Looks like i may go back to capped account
 
I'm still getting 10 KBs since my first post. I bearly even get full speed on the weekend too!

I'm having the same issues with another ISP on a 384k uncapped unshaped account.
Seems to me that there is not enough bandwidth to go around??
 
Axxess is starting to bug me, I'm on a so called uncapped 4Mb account... but last month only did 20Gb due to being throttled down to 56kb modem speeds, considering moving so someone more accomidating soon!!!
 
I'm on Axxess Uncapped on a 4Mb line.

Line is at full speed, both for my apartment in Stellenbosch and at home in Cape Town. I was throttled earlier in May (after pulling 60GB over a few days), but after a few days, I fell below the threshold and I get full line speed (especially over weekends and after business hours.)

So no complaints from me.
 
Axxess Just Uncapped 1Mbps

I'm on Axxess 1Mb Just uncapped.

I had good line speeds for first 5 days after signing up(average 984Kbps). IS slowly started throttling me over the weekend (5 June). Went as low as 355Kbps. I phoned Axxess today just to make sure that it's not due to server problems on their side. A very pleasant techie checked my traffic and confirmed that I'm being throttled at IS, since I'm down to a two-star rating after hitting 20Gb download in 5 days:D.

Tonight I'm back up to half speed (535kbps). Hopefully I'll be out of the 20% bracket soon.

There seem to be no winning in this game, only degrees of losing :twisted: I must admit though, that kids are enjoying their favorite series. Just trying to be a good Dad :D
 
Hehe.

Because I'm with my 4Mb line, I'm within the top 50%. So I get shaped fairly often. Doesn't really stop me though - I just set the downloads to queue overnight. Most of the stuff is distributed P2P, I'm a huge Miro user.
 
I thought it was our line.

Reported it to Telkom who checked it out. Nothing changed on the router stats, but they said the line was now 100%.

It got better for a few days...a few.

We're on 384 and I wouldn't call us excessive users, but the service we're getting now is pathetic.

Also, I take offense to having my support tickets IGNORED.

Axxess...you were good, but I think we're going to have to part ways rather soon.
 
ya the throttling is sterk and you will only get your 4mb/s...1mb/s etc at 1am to 6am, its throttled down to 20kb/s at all other times
 
I had the same problem with my 1mb line. Got put into the top 20% and had a 2* rating. It was like going back to the dial up days :/ Moved to Openweb Gold and can download and browse all I want without throttling!

OP try Openweb 384 uncapped for R219pm.
 
I'm also on Axxess 384, can't even watch a YouTube video at the moment. It's sad, I used to think they were one of the best ISP's. Might give Openweb or Mweb a chance next month..

The mythical star rating... apparantly only IS knows... it's supposed to hidden in the basement of their data-centre managed by IGOR who decides with arcane acts of dark internet magick! The results are drawn up on an Etch-A-Sketch and then diseminated to the unholy ranks of the ISP B.O.F.H.

Translated as : Your guess is as good as mine :)

I apparently have a bad rating due to downloading 1Gb in a day??? Crawling along at under 1Mb on my 4Mb account on a 10Mb line :)

Why not try their after hours uncapped account @ R899. If it's anything like the Openweb equivalent (they in fact resellers of the Axxess product) performance is superb. You'll get 10mb between 8pm-8am and all weekend...

1st price, 2nd I don't need the speeds after hours, I need them all the time :) I will have a chat with OpenWEB and see what they can offer.
