Or find a spot where it's legal to park such as 150m down the road where there is more than 20 parking spaces constantly unused...
But it makes perfect sense to obstruct the sidewalk and make pedestrians walk on the road, more accidents for them...
Additionally I can't see the oncoming traffic when I get out of my house since they block the view, another bonus for accidents.

He's not exactly parking there, in the sense suggested by this thread title
They still stay there from 9am to 7pm except when they have a tow, it's actually longer than common parking ! There are actually two of them so almost constantly one.
What's the rules on picking up a disabled person?
My gran isn't disabled but she's like 200 so whenever I go anywhere with her I try drop her off as close to the entrance as possible. But say she was - if I was picking her up from somewhere could I park in a disabled parking bay to fetch her? Shucks, even now where it's an effort for her to walk far distances, can I park there to drop her off, move to a normal bay, then park there again when we're leaving?

The wide parking bays are to manage the walking aids (zimmer frames, crutches, wheel chairs) so perhaps consider that as a clue to your answer. Also, many place I know allow the aged free and fair access to those parking bays to shorten their walk.
I dropped my 94 year old mother in law at Park and Shop in Meadowridge. I stopped in a disabled bay. Despite the cop watching me assist her out the car, get her stick and safely onto the pavement and into Clicks Stores, she was writing a ticket when I got back less than 2 mins later and presented it to me with a flourish. I asked her why she had not come forward to assist this old lady and she just walked off
Unfortunately if you need to use the reserved bays you must have a permit visible in your car, if I remember correctly
