Baldur's Gate 3

Bet you many a teenager (including teenage me) would've liked to have that Pluck-and-Port feature when you were
getting down to business and your mom comes into the room without knocking.

I don't remember which game had it, but at least one game had a DOS mode, which was a shortcut that, if pressed, brought up a boring DOS prompt.

So your boss would see the DOS prompt and not realise you had been playing games.

Geez, this post reminds me of the text-adventures I used to play. I really like those games.

enter the 'boss screen' :p

I'm not all that optimistic about BG3. I don't know why.

I just.... wonder if they could recapture the magic? I wonder if that is possible today. Anyway.

I have fond memories of the game. The first time I played BG2, I think I got about half way through the Underdark when I got stuck. Looking back, I had absolutely zero understanding of how the game's mechanics worked. I knew how to cast spells, but I don't think I really understood armor class or THAC0.

I found any battle with umber hulks, vampires or illithid not only hard but also frustrating. Confusion lasted for ages - get confused and it was basically a reload.

I liked that, in IWD2, energy drain inflicted by undead was not permanent. I hated that, in BG2, you needed lesser restoration to get rid of it, AND you didn't gain any experience while level drained.

In a way I guess it was a game balance issue - in most cases, if you had a single strong character that was immune to level drain or immune to psionics, any battle with vampires or mindflayers respectively became a cakewalk.

Maybe a Dwarven warrior would have good enough saving throws to not really be bothered by them. I never really used dwarves until I played the Black Pits 2 in BG2:EE, and man, their super good saving throws are really, really good!

Hugo house of horrors and the one goblins or something.

Slap bee with rod. Hit bee with shoe. JUST KILL THE BEE!
/*The bee stung you to death*/

I hated those games :P

No, I haven't played Stoneshard. In regard to Dungeons & Dragons, I am hoping to see another The Temple of Elemental Evil in the series. Not to mention that Troika made another underrated game which was Arcanum. Both these games deserve another title.

I have been dying for day to continuity in the original form of Ultima, to this day I still replay the series.
I remember temple of elemental evil had terrible reception and I believe it caused the entire studio to fold. Enjoyed it as well and another would be awesome.

They also developed Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines the following year which received similar scores. I just believe Troika was too, how can I say, adventurous with introducing homosexuality in gaming with ToEE, but I never experienced it that way. Both of these games needed serious patching at launch.

ToEE with Co8 (Circle of Eight) is an incredible experience. The Co8 community have introduced more content in other packs for ToEE.

I am just sad that the spiritual successor of Icewind Dale isn't my cup of tea. Who knows, maybe it is a good ARPG,

but I don't know what to make of the trailer.

Anyone following the development of The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes?

I see it will be available on Steam in US spring time. Apparently it will be a classical RPG like the original Baldur's Gate.

I own all of The Dark Eye games and I am looking forward to this one.

It looks quite cool. Too many of these games, though - impossible to keep up.

I feel the mind flayer thing is tacky to be honest. The way their heads start to shine while they look like their having a stroke all the time... Because they have a physical worm in their eye... Come on! Cheesy! And icky. 20 bazillion cut scenes? What is immersion even?
Nobody seems to be trying to take the fantasy RPG genre forward anymore. Gothic fashion battle simulators certainly are on the up though. I'm starting to think they really just don't get it anymore. Meanwhile desperate fans of the genre have had to resort to LitRPG for a fix.
Where's the magic, wonder and adventure? All I've seen so far is emotional drama, flimsy attitude and pretentious anti-heroism. Played out upon a lovingly crafted stage I must admit - Albeit a lovingly crafted mundane stage. It seems that the most magical backdrop they can imagine these days is something reminiscent of the aftermath of a giant setting its farts alight. And possibly exploding in the process.

Realms of Arkania, now named The Dark Eye, is incredibly rich, and Aventuria is a wonderful place for a D&D setting. If The Forgotten Realms are all too familiar for many, then The Dark Eye is a good alternative.

Both Baldur's Gate 3 and Book of Heroes just hit the top of my wishlist. I am not sure about Dark Alliance, because it does come forth as a VR title (something which I cannot afford at the time).

The game will be showcased on the 6th in the Guerrilla Collective online digital games festival. Apparently it will be hosted on Twitch,

and Steam, probably using Steam's video streaming which was tested with The Game Awards.

Baldur's Gate will be showcased somewhere, 7 pm Central Europe, June 6th.

This, Cyberpunk and Ghost of Tsushima are my 3 big titles for this year, should provide hours of entertainment while stuck at home.

Mine is Cyberpunk and Wasteland 3, and Wasteland 3 better be a brilliant game since Microsoft acquired inXile Entertainment they doubled the game's preorder price from $30 (by backing) to $60 on Steam. If you go to Wasteland 3's Steam discussion board all people talk about is the high price of the title, but apparently according to inXile they have thrown a lot into the game for making it worth of AAA status. I think Microsoft wants to include it into their Game Pass and market it as such, hence the high price for forcing people in adopting the Game Pass.

Hopefully, and I am wishing, Wasteland 3 to be the best game of its class to date. Indie games like ATOM RPG (which is still updated), Encased (still in development) and Underrail (which is continually updated) are true gems. The ATOM RPG standalone expansion is out, Trudogad (still in development) but it is more of a shameless Fallout copy.

Bloodlines 2 have been pushed back to far for a 2020 title, and Buldar's Gate 3 have no known release date which I expect will likely be announced this month for Q1 2021.

For now, I am looking forward to Destroy All Humans! Also, Bannerlords is kind of a buggy, but formidable game, and pending on its development state it may stand a chance of GOTY title.
