Best FREE internet Security

lol i agree... i recently had a problem myself....so i had anti vir installed.. picked up badies.. cleaned them out.... but i didn't like the program so i had avg and nod32 installed..

So i ran scans with nod and avg... avg didnt pick up anything.. nod on the other hand picked up another 15 infected files which the other av's missed

Nod gets my vote :D.. Previous to all of this i was using kaspersky which to my amazement got disabled by some virus lol..:p

Please provide names of other av's so we also know.

BitDefender Internet Security v10. It's rated as the #1 security solution for 2007 and I agree with that rating. :D:cool:

I am using BD Antivirus plus v10. Haven't had a reason to complain yet. Sometimes it keeps the CPU busy but only for a couple of ms. Grayford Holton is going to luv you lots. :p

:D

I've tried many AV programs the past few years. AVG Free, Avira Antivir, avast!, Panda Titanium, AVG internet security (worse than free btw) and even the dreaded Norton. :o

However, NOTHING comes close to BitDefender. It's fast on system scans, has a great firewall, excellent internet monitor and also a very effective spam filter. I'll definitely recommend it. It's one of the few commercial products that's value for money.

"BitDefender has excellent malware detection and a good price, but it's hamstrung by a noticeable (though not show-stopping) system slowdown."

Wateva rocks your boat i guess:p

Do you guys think I should install BitDefender on my server? I can choose between AVG Professional, NOD32, Kaspersky, BitDefender and Avast! so I would like to know which one is the best to install?

Why dont you download Bitdefender and try it free for 30 days. And then make your decision.
:p

From what I've heard, Nod32 is the best commercial product, but obviously your choice will depend on your specific needs and preferences:)

The only reason why nod gets rated so low is because of its "technical" interface

I wouldn't take PC World's review so seriously if I were you..... have you seen their #2 rated product?

@GreatBigMouth even if it is free have you tested this one.

I don't like it because:

- NO AV Comparatives Award
- NO ICSA Labs Certified Logo
- NO West Coast Labs Checkmark
- NO VB100% Award

Cyberdefender hasn't received a single check mark or award from any of the above.

Go for BitDefender or Kaspersky. They're both excellent, although once again, I recommend BitDefender. ;):D

Stats from Virus Bulletin website for the VB100% awards:

Cyberdefender is not on the list.

Anyone else see who the clear winner is?:D

Don't tell me you actually believe that Norton Anivirus is the #2 product ...

Firstly, I'm still trying to figure out how you equate winner with #2?

Secondly, I couldn't care less about Nortons's.

Thirdly, I'm not saying that this is what I believe - I'm merely quoting stats from the website of one of the awards that you mention as one of the yardsticks in measuring antivirus performance;)

The winner from what I see is Nod32:)

Yeah, but Norton apparently becomes second??

You can't rank an antivirus product by a single test. You have to consider features, effectiveness, performance, ease of use etc etc. BitDefender out performs all in scanning, (except Kaspersky) and features a registry startup scan that most other AV doesn't. ;)
