how do you plan to use the smart cover with another cover as the smart cover needs to secure with magnets on the rear
You get a number of back covers that can accommodate the smart cover.
You can see the cut out on the side where the smart cover attaches.

Tbh I prefer the form factor of the bulkier iPad to the slimmer iPad 2 at times.

ive been look at getting a smart cover for a while now but haven't found any i like, i also don't like bulky, anyone know if the speck one is any good?

I got a speck folio, paid about R399 at a cellphone shop. Makes my iPad look like a folder which I think is awesome. I don't like the clasp mechanism, I feel it will break sooner than later. Apart from that I am pretty happy with it.
