Beware R149 uncapped data SIM, says MTN

They are quoting MTN in the headline. MTN did say that. I can't see the issue?[/Q

Yeah whats wrong with you people. NEVER question the media. I think this guy has links to Al Qaeda.
Quick somebody stage a fake "islamist" attack in SA...

Just to be clear: We ordered a SIM card and will give feedback as soon as we receive it. Some users also confirmed that the service functions as expected.

It looks like some MTN APN users complained about the service, which raises some concern about the future viability of the product.

I have no idea what to expect longer term, but for now the service seems to offer what it promises.

Restrictions on Sim Card
• Porn websites and malicious sites are blocked by the network. If a customer finds a site that’s blocked and it is not a malicious, porn or streaming site we will unblock it. User can send us an email to [email protected], we will check the site and have it unblocked.
• Users are not able to download movies, music, malicious content but other download permitted.
• You Tube is blocked.

This "company" is just some guy sitting in his bedroom in his parent's house in Lenasia reselling an MTN data offering from another company.

Right, so anything that actually uses bandwidth is blocked...

I wonder what their stance will be on proxies/VPNs where they won't be able to see the content...

I also wonder how this might work for companies - I would consider using this as a second link for a branch and running a VPN and maybe internet breakout via it especially if MTN allow the APN to use LTE.

So why must we 'beware' of this offer? What do you'll expect for R149 /month? So far this seems legit, ie, it does what it says it does.So what if the dude is sitting in his basement?

hey if it works through VPN then so be it... make sure they let you do EFT every month dont do debit order or Credit Card. and then push it all through a VPN

Yep my thoughts exactly, many multi million dollar companies started in parents basements, garages etc.....

The important thing is does it do what it claims to do?For this we'll have to wait for the first few guinea pigs to give us their results before we can say yay or nay to the product.

Are the people who are dissing the guy jealous that they didn't think of this idea first?I don't get the ridicule,as long as he offers the service he is claiming to offer for R149 a month it really doesn't matter how big or small his company is.

Rpm I'm looking forward to you guys publishing a test of the service, could be useful to many people if it does what it says it does properly.:)
