BEWARE!!! SA Customs iPad Thieves!

Recently got 2 iPad 2"s bought in, upon receiving the package we found a tampered package with empty boxes, - the ipads and chargers had been taken.

This has happened with two other people we know, they are targeting these packages. Worst thing is we bought these in with FedEx, thinking they would come faster. They are slower than the post office, and their staff really do not care that this was done. DO NOT USE FEDEX.

I assume you are going to lodge a dispute with FedEx? Let us know how it goes.
 
Wow, what a horrible feeling that must be.

Was it insured?

Have you laid a complaint with the police, FEDEX and Customs?
 
Not insured, the guy who sent them was an ass. Have submitted a claim, FedEx say this takes weeks though because an "investigation" must be done. They claimed to have been reviewing customs footage, but I got nothing back from them on that one. Have slips and proof of what we paid though. Have filed a case with SA POLICE and am getting investigators in johannesburg to assist in tracking the IMEI . Not sure if they would of inserted sims yet. People like this really don"t deserve to live! Need to start catching these theives.
 
Damn this is worrying. My ipad (shipped with DHL) has been "delayed" at customs for a couple of days now.
 
Thats exactly what happened to mine. FedEx tracking stated "Clearance Delay" Came 3 days late. Was supposed to receive them 12 April, when I called they told me the flight was delayed that night and only took off in the morning (12 Hour domestic flight delay?!) So basicly some FedEx staff had an early Christmas that night.

Just prepare yourself for the shock of your life, when you receive the package and it feels like the weight of paper, you"l know something not right.

Refuse to sign for it aswell, check the package always infront of delivery guy. FedEx was stupid enough to let my domestic worker sign for the thing as I was not at home. Hope they don"t argue that it"s my fault I didnt check before signed:mad::mad::mad:

My package is insured, should the worst happen. That really sucks man.

It said "iPad"

Yes, I know it"S really dumb to advertise that, but if you lie to customs and get caught, somethings ganna go wrong.
 
How do you know the seller didn't steal them, good motivation not to insure it. I mean its a lot of money.

Sorry to hear that I had exactly same problem last year but it was with my Iphone 3gs,It came from Australia ,it got delayed and it took 16 days to reach me and when it arrived i never suspected anything but got shock of my life got an empty box with packing materials in it after paying 730 rand customs and handling fees to damn couriers TNT,It had the same problem it said Iphone in the way bill i tried my best to find the thieves but never got any help from courier company only luck I had was I bought it from Ebay using Paypal so after all emails to sender and sending back empty box to seller I got my money back (still lost 1200)in exchange rates.I fought for my customs paid from TNT and got it after 2 months.i find that if the way bill clearly states Ipad or iphone or any costly electronics its the courier company staff they steel it.
Funny thing is that i recieved my Ipad through post office after it was send through USPS and it took 1 month to reach me due to christmas holidays it came without any problems and i paid least customs duty for it ,the invoice just said cumputer parts,think thats the reason
