BEWARE!!! SA Customs iPad Thieves!

There appears to be a few dodgy iPad 2 deals to be had on Johannesburg gumtree... (won in online competition but I already have one, lol)
 
I feel for you dude. Customs got their thieving ****ing hands on my package and stole the PS3 and 9 games, plus my TV remote?!! It must be like christmas everyday in that place.

Hope the ne'er-do-wells get traced down. Chances are it will be some innocent chappie who got an ipad at a bargain price...

Seems the other way to do it is to buy the ipad/electronics at a large retailer, and pay a little bit extra in order not to have the stress and hassles of empty boxes...
 
Well, my mate in London has confirmed that he has my iP2 in his hands and the Apple store confirmed that my 3 accessories will be delivered today (smart cover, cam connection kit & iP2 dock). He's flying in on the 28th and so I have asked him to bring it himself instead of couriering it here to me.

Can't wait (I had ipad dreams last night FML)

edit to add - if it wasn't for this thread I would have asked him to courier it to me....
 
The serial number is on the box. So meet the guy that advertises the ipad on gumtree and check the serial on the ipad.
 
Why go that far? Email them and ask them to send you the serial so you can check if its fake or not - if its yours, contact the police and then meet-up.
 
Well you could just ask if they are in Apple boxes seeing as those were left behind.

In case it really is his stuff I just wouldn't make them suspicious. However, telling them it is for the sake of finding out whether it is a genuine ipad I guess they might send you the number. Perhaps I should send an inquiry? Okay, I will send him an sms and ask.
 
Sorry to hear about this problem and i hope you sort it out ... I haven't had issues like this before with ordering and i order a lot of stuff from various countries. One thing is for sure that a lot of countries don't ship to us and this is not because we "3rd world" or because we live in Africa ... its because they always get complaints from South Africans regarding parcels never arriving or parcels been opened . Its our very own people that do this at customs .
