Blackouts starting now: Eskom

A quick scan of the schedules seems to indicate that at least Eskom has had some forethought and won't bomb Green Point into darkness next Wednesday during the Foo Fighters concert.
 
I am soo angry!

- ADSL down for 2 days,
- MTN's data network is pathetic

and now the power may go off at any moment

Will piss myself laughing if they cock it up though....
 
This is just a marketing ploy from Eskom. "Loadshedding" is done on purpose so that they can justify massive price hikes early next year. Well that's my theory.
 
Home scheduled for 4 to 6:30 ... won't be going home just yet then.

You don't need to dream up conspiracies to recognise the simple truth that our country's entire electricity infrastructure is on the brink of implosion. Bits of it have bloody literally collapsed.
 
These open gas turbines are arguably the most inefficient way to generate electricity...

Now the real question is, is it a conspiracy to keep petrol/diesel costs up here in SA, as the crude oil prices are the lowest in almost 5 years?

I agree.

Just wish Eskom would owe up and ask for help. I'm sure there are still a lot of people with the technical know-how to save our country and economy - and this looming disaster from happening.
 
I wish we could experience power outages up here, man, the silence of the evenings, the crackling of a roaring fire, family around the fire, bag of marshmallows on sticks......a cold beer or two, or three, or four, or five, or six...... the meat waiting to be cooked, perhaps get one of the Moose's to play a tune for their old man on the piano.........

/Moose sighs as he sits in his office, staring at the aircon humming on the wall......
