Blood Pressure...

And that gives you the dry cough?

No no I just posted that for my own record, sorry.

The active ingredient Lisinopril gave me a dry cough. Nasty. Took a month and cortisone to get rid of it.

About two weeks ago I tested 190/120 on a consumer grade BP monitor. Went to the doctor and got put on Pearinda. Couple of days later I was at 150/93 at Dischem. Going back for checkup tomorrow am.

Can blood pressure affect eye sight?

Be careful bud thats really not good.
By the way dont use the wrist monitor one, must be one over bicep

My BP was averaging 150/90 and since reading this thread, I started with Cayenne Pepper and it dropped to 125/77 and has stayed at this level for 4 weeks now.
It is difficult in the beginning as it is distasteful and burning but after a few days you will get used to it. I highly recommend it.

Please explain what you do?

As I said, I have gotten used to the taste. I am on a wheat free diet for years as I get a bloated feeling if I eat bread, pasta or rice.

What I do is have a breakfast of micro waved tomatoes and put a tea spoon of cayenne pepper over it and have it with leftovers of the previous nights supper or a tin of sardines.

After a week of this you will not have the burning taste and will add more to it.

I will then have a glass of warm water with a level tp of cayenne pepper at mid day. This, I promise you will drop your BP by 10 points.

Basically consume two teaspoons of cayenne pepper, one morning and one mid day?

I tested this by not having any Cayenne Pepper for 2 days and my BP was up again by 10 points. Will start again and see how it goes.

Trivia:
___________________________________________________________________________________
One tp of Cayenne pepper in a glass of warm water will stop a heart attack within 1 minute.
It acts immediately on the veins and arteries to open them and stop the heart attack. Over a long term this will rejuvenate the veins and arteries and make them more supple from age related rigidity.

I wonder how legit this is.

Google is peppered with articles on this. I just googled it now and found out why my severe heart palpitations have stopped. It is the cayenne pepper. I hope it lasts as the palps affect my social life.
My wife has cut her Moduretic by half as her BP dropped a bit low.
Of some concern to me is that my heart rate dropped from 62 to 55 and now it is 47. Perhaps I should go with only 1 tsp pd.

Thanks for the tips....will try the cayenne pepper. Are the cayenne pepper pills as effective

I'm still very sceptic. I mean seriously, the more pepper the bigger the drop in blood pressure? But what do I know.

I wonder if it has to be specifically cayenne pepper? My husband eats chilli everyday, his BP was 150/93 yesterday. Doc put him on meds.

Doubtful.

The reduction in blood pressure theory is a bit better. Of the top of my head...its the "active" ingredient aka the spicy part - Capsaicin that matters. Pretty sure in the animal studies they just use capsaicin extract because normal cayenne pepper is too diluted. As for the size of the drop...blood pressure measurements are always a bit sketchy. You can easily push down the readings at will with some relaxation techniques. Point is take all readings with a pinch of salt.

Probably doesn't matter...see above...same stuff is in chilli peppers. Med is a good plan though

Pills are probably a better plan.

I would recommend to stop taking cayenne pepper until I get clarity about my health issue. Today is the 10'th day that I have had severe upper stomach pains that radiate to my back.
I have since researched excessive intake of cayenne pepper and see it can affect the pancreas and kidneys.
Going for blood and sonar tests on Tuesday and will ask the Gastro Doc about this. Will post back.
