Good Ol' Doctor Doppies, can always count on him, "Dump the prostate meds, dit *** met jou kop!" , " Yes! Your BP is high, but I ain't gonna just give you more tablets that you can compare with your brother, I want you to come into the clinic everyday of the week and let's keep a record of your BP, dis n snaakse fokkin ding BP"
Only then will he tell me which way forward, when I mentioned that I had abstained from beer and braai this past weekend, he just rolled his eyes, looked to the heavens , shook his head and mumbled something inaudible.... :erm:![]()
Try cayanne pepper with lukewarm water.
One week of no braai and beer and now?
Just come back from the local hospital, been feeling dizzy last three days, had my sugar level checked without fasting, 7:6 not an issue... Had my blood pressure checked..... 151/77 , this might be an issue, at home now laying down googling how I am going to die... Have an appointment with Dr.Doppies in under an hour..... I am sure he will tell me to go home and open a few cold one's whilst lighting a fire....![]()

So it is Turmeric, My Friend Google said so....
This fine morning, with my head surrounded by bluebirds, clouds drifting through my empty skull, swaying in the gentle breeze, the Moose went to the local hospital for yet another BP check as per Dr.Doppies instructions...
The male nurse, clad in his dirty uniform performed his duties apon me and then stood back and gasped asking if I was on BP meds as the luminous red display flickered 181/88 .....
"What? That thing is fecked, Impossible!" , I exclaimed...... I feel at least 60% better today than yesterday..... "Your BP machine must be captured...", I added
He then gave me two more tests within coming ten minutes and decided that in his EXPERT opinion, that the best of three 145/77 seemed a better choice...
The Moose shook his head, muttering unto himself , "Fekkin State Capture" , picking up his jacket and went for a drive to the beach.....
So back at work, I instructed The English HO to order me my own Blood Pressure Machine and went swimming for 1.5km...
I informed the lads that do the lifeguard stuff that I was not feeling fine and that they should be prepared to rescue the Titanic when I flounder on one of the lengths..... But in all honesty, in fourteen degree water, the swim was the best thing I have done in the last four days, I feel a lot better after save for the light headiness .....
Fancy a Hamburger for nosh tonight.....![]()
Usually for life. Unless you radically change tour lifestyleOnce you are on BP meds can you come off them or is it for life?

That's a good question, and the answer is heartening too: Just because your physician prescribes blood pressure medication doesn't mean you have to take it forever. Although most people find that taking antihypertensive medication helps to control their blood pressure with relatively few serious side effects, once your blood pressure is under control you may be able to lower the dosage or stop taking the medication altogether by adopting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. However, many people do require lifelong medication therapy because despite a healthy lifestyle, they still may have high blood pressure due to other intrinsic factors.
The good news is that even if you require medications for blood pressure, you can keep the dose down by eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, getting regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and not smoking. One word of warning: Often people stop taking their pills once their blood pressure reaches a healthy level, only to find it shoots right back up after a period of time. This fluctuation could be dangerous, so never stop taking your medication without first consulting your physician. And if you are concerned about taking medication for the long term, ask your doctor about alternative ways to control your blood pressure. Good luck.
Mines up again. Stupid pain.
Must arrange that cervical disc replacement next week
