bonus any one ?

I now get a bonus paid out in 3 payments throughout the year. I find out what it is in Jan - no set amount, completely discretionary - always a fun wait.

No bonus, no 13th cheque. December is a tough month for me as everyone around me spends a bit of cash and I still have to stick to my budget to see me through the month.

And one often has to plan nicely and have better self control than usual, because they pay early in December

Yeah, my wife gets a bonus in July and December. It's like two crismasses a year.

Bonus paid in august. Nothing in december.

so who got bonus this year apart from raises ?

...you could divulge amount or its percentage according to your normal p/m pay

-still waiting for my 2x surprises being raise and bonus, i know we are getting.... just wondering how much 0_o

Yup, 13th cheque.

Every month have been getting an extra on my salary already from last year's 14th cheque and working towards a 15th cheque for next year April.
We're still a bit off target for the 15th but can still be done.

So true.
52 weeks in a year
4 weeks per month ( on average)

That would equate to 13 pay cheques.

But everyone gets paid at end of calendar month. So, you get 12 pay cheques. Does it mean you are "working" 4 weeks for "free"

Or maybe those 4 weeks will account for :-
annual leave
family responsibility leave
Sick leave

Or maybe my logic is flawed

That only applies if you have signed a contract that is paid per 4 weeks. Most contracts now are an annual cost-to-company model that they split up and pay you 1/12 of every month. So no, you are not working 4 weeks for free.

What industry

Unless you're at African Bank, financial services has had a bumper year?

Unfortunately not my target market, which is micro and small enterprise. We had lots of customers cancel on us or close up their business completely this year.

What is this bonus thing you guys talk about? Can it be eaten?

As for increases, just had those, a solid 6% Well done to my awesome company, makes me proud to be your slave.

That's below inflation.

So you're actually worse off now, than this time last year.

Actually don't think I'm getting a bonus till like 2017 earliest. As long as the increases keep coming I'm OK with that though.

Bonuses get paid in April...for ordinary staff, there's a general one of 4% annual package and a specialist one of up to 20%.

I'm on the specialist one so it's okay. Increases are nothing to write home about anymore...inflation + 2 to 3% for above competent performance.

Financial services...company did well though we didn't blow anyone's socks off.

Increases compound nicely, especially when you're not dealing with a devaluing currency.

Real inflations or StatsSA fakeflation? 6% is more than fakeflation.

I didn't even get fakeflation

Now you're making me wonder where I got that stat from. CPI is 4.7% currently.

Shall have to research more. I see everyone seems to be expecting 6% inflation though next year.
