I don't get bonus but just found out that due to major financial systems upgrades in Scandinavia, I will have to work overtime almost every weekday and full day every Saturday and Sunday for the next 4 weeks at 2x normal hourly rate :D

Both awesome and sad news at the same time.
Planned to have the project complete on the 22nd.
 
You lucky. We are deemed to be on management level, so dont get paid overtime rates.

Exactly why I will never become a manager.

I have a colleague (The same person who was my mentor and someone in whose footsteps I will definitely be following) who actually earns more than most most managers in the company and is able to override their rules because he is like gold to the company.
Because he isn't a manager, he will also be joining me with this project and getting overtime.

That's exactly what I want.

You don't have to become a manager to be treated like one...sufficient tenure \ seniority and it's a fait accompli.

Your friend's experience has more to do with his skills \ value than his non-managerial status.

The boat most of the devs here are in. All the contractors earn the same or more than management, that is the reason they grade as as "managers" when it comes to overtime rules/payment.

eh nope. A company can pay managers overtime if they want to, but they're not required to do so unless forced to by the BCEA...which they only will if the employee is neither "senior management" or above the threshold (round 300k).

i.e. Your buddy missed out on a chance to be manager (in title) and earn overtime at the same time.
 
Just got paid for December today and...... No Bonus!!! :( For the first time in my 9 years of working this is the first time I've never had a bonus. It hurts a bit because I thought I did very well this year with regards to my work.

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't get a bonus though :D:p
