bonus any one ?

The state doesn't pay contract workers anything they don't have to.

I'm not getting jack ****.

First time in 3.5 years that I've genuinely felt unhappy about working at my current employer.

End of fiscal year in March, we only got 25% of our monthly salary as bonus, as opposed to the 50% of last year, with the promise that we get the other 25% in December, pending performance review.

The other day I ask one of my directors about it - he would have been involved in these. He says he's totally forgotten about it.

To add insult to injury, we got paid on the 18th last month because we had our year end function that weekend. So we were promised pay on the 18th of December as well. Our boss has been on vacation for 2 weeks, and he was due back to Wednesday. On Tuesday he phones and says he'll only be back next week, and thus payroll will only be run next week.

It's his prerogative I guess, he can pay on the 30th for all I care. But 2 promises were not adhered to in one month, and some of my colleagues with kids made plans accordingly(buying presents for their kids this weekend etc.).

And not getting a bonus, or at least evaluated for it, when it was promised, pisses me off the most. If it wasn't promised, I wouldn't give a flying ****.

So, I've been with my new company for three months. Got pro rata bonus, and a promotion to start a new position in Jan '16. (Which position I'm already working my bum off in planning and strategy, cause I wanted it, they gave it to me, and I'm make it work!)

nope.. no bonus this year.. company as a whole did not meet budget...

You will go far.

Generally our Bonus is around 1.5-2 times our monthly salary before tax.

Hopefully going to be more this year, as its been a stellar year.

Will find out in March :)

Move to a corporate. These crappy small-company issues that are dependent on one person become irrelevant...

Move to a corporate. These crappy small-company issues that are dependent on one person become irrelevant...

My previous company was a big corporate, and, unless you were at least a team manager, you weren't even considered for bonuses, and my first increase was 3.1% - it was basically half of inflation at that stage. Everyone got the same increase, no matter how much you worked your ass off. And the thing that put me off from big corporates is the fact that they were voted best company to work for for 2 years running in the Deloitte survey. Obviously, this is not the be all and end all, but obviously they're right up there at least.

I've been treated way better here - up til now. But this has gotten me thinking. Although I'd really like my next big move to be overseas. I did turn down a better offer in Cape Town earlier this year because of that. Maybe I should reconsider where life is taking me, or rather where I am taking my life.

It's just difficult because in December it's pretty difficult without any extra cash like a bonus etc.

No bonus for me this December. I got a little bonus in July though and changed jobs in September.
