Hi

I am currently using a Huawei B970b modem with Telkom Mobile and currently getting speeds less than or equal to around 1mb.

These speeds, however, are a little too slow and i'm looking to increase it. The modem I have does have place for an external antenna, and currently I do have place on the pole on the outside of my house which a satellite is already attached to, to add another antenna to(hopefully its high enough etc)

What I would like to know is there a 3G Antenna that can help me?
Where can I get one and how do i know which one will work or what signal?
What antenna should I get? (Should I bother getting one)

I stay in Centurion near Sunderland Ridge/Celtisdal area.

Please assist me :)

Signal Boosting Antenna - Huawei B970B modem

Either this http://www.dbg.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=32_38&products_id=662 or this http://www.antennas.co.za/Products/ProductDetails?code=325 will work, they cover both the 900 and 2100 MHz bands and will connect to your Huawei device.

By moving outside and adding an external antenna you usually get an improvement in signal strength which should help your speeds (provided the tower you connect to isn't oversubscribed). The antenna cable is only 7m long though, so your router will end up being quite close to the antenna when mounted.

Pretty sure you are looking for this here

There are other options but they are more expensive. I haven't tried one of these antennas yet, but it could help you.
Just so you know, it could be that the tower is congested from other users, so an antenna may not help all that much.

Thanks! :)

Hi

Just checked it out, it looks pretty good!

Gonna take my modem there and see if it fits

Thanks!

It would also be a good idea to attach your b970b via USB and use it as a modem with MDMA to help you align the antenna.

PS. The connector on the router is SMA and remember to toggle the antenna switch on the back of the router.

Hi There,
I would always go and look at Poynting. They are just down the road from you in Midrand and are very good at advising what you need. They may not be the cheapest but sometimes paying a bit more has huge benefits

Regards
