Welcome to my world, but apparently it isn't a BI problem.

I never said it wasn't a BI problem, I just recommended you to add the static routes and make sure they are active by pinging them, if that doesn't work the issue isn't your side.

I just tested BI on my Roku 3 and also won't connect at all. Static routes are all in place on my router as per Soul Asassin's post...

Splash screen and then nothing unless you remove the network cable?

yeah I'm able to navigate around and click on an app, but I'll be stuck at the Hulu or Netflix splash screen. Likewise when I go to network settings, it gets stuck on "checking connection".

my r3 does not work on checking connection in the netflix app. But everything else works fine...

Welcome to my world, but apparently it isn't a BI problem.

BI confirmed it was a problem specific to their service and is hit and miss with the Roku, which is why it works for some people. I have functioning static routes in place and have tested the various suggestions without success, but as I said, they confirmed that this was an issue with their service.

They will be launching their VPN solution in July, which will allow the Roku to function without issues. For now I've moved to Getflix which works 100%.

Interesting.

I am going to sniff DNS requests from my roku at startup and at failure point to see if I can identify the requests causing the issue.

Should be easy to fix once the problem is found.

Check out this Reddit link as well.

thanks appreciate, good to know about the "check connection" thing, but apps are definitely not connecting.

if this helps I'm also running manually assigned IP's for both my PC and Roku player, and here's my static route list:

Try disabling all of them except 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, power off the Roku completely and try again, if that doesn't work try enabling all of them except for 108.175.32.0.

I have been using these for months and and it's working flawlessly for me.

I don't have to block anything but I only use a iPad and Samsung Smart TV but I remember I added the static routes once just for the fun of it and found 108.175.32.0 to cause issues even when not watching local content, it would take ages to load, that's why BI recommend it only if nothing else works.

Got it working thanks man - So followed your steps, powered off and on the roku and still wouldn't connect - but then I restarted my router (with the roku still on) and once that rebooted, was able to connect. So seems like Roku has an issue with connecting if you reboot the device itself, and once on you need to reboot your router.

For the other Roku guys having issues, give that a try?

I think somewhere somehow the DNS or static routes weren't being correctly applied and the restarting flushed the DNS and that's why it's working now.

One of my friends had the same issue with a Apple TV 4, he told me he did everything and it just wouldn't work, told him to just configure everything and turn off, i.e. unplug not just press the power button, everything for a minute and it worked after that.

I tried all the above suggestions with regards to rebooting router, roku, adding all static routes and only adding the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but still had the same issues. Roku wouldn't turn on unless ethernet cable was unplugged and the times it did turn on, would get stuck on the network page and just turn off so I am one of the un-lucky ones it seems.

Loaded Getflix and everything working perfectly and streaming at 1080p. Will give BI another shot in July then it seems. For now I am just happy to be away from UnoTelly - even tho it gave me many many months of happiness, last couple fo days has been more bad than good.

Add recipe:
{
"AllowedDomains": [
{
"Domain": "index.ehub.netflix.com",
"MatchExpression": "",
"UnmatchExpression": "",
"UseType": "tcp4",
"ProxyListType": "byProxy",
"ProxyCodeList": "uk",
"Order": 0
}
],
"Name": "netflixhack"
}

Works for now. I need to figure out a bit more to get the network check working, but the above will fix your bootup issue

Tx. incidentally once my Roku connected after doing the router reboot thing, i'm able to see the network connection check status. So far everything is running great although I noticed some buffering and lower quality on Hulu compared to Unotelly service. But Netflix is flying.

I have a couple of other channels I need to add a recipe for (NBC sports live etc), going to give it a go shortly. With recipes, are you essentially just adding all the source domains for the stream which you could see via a debugger tool? i.e nbcsports.com, akamai etc?

Quick update to let everyone know that Netflix has pushed out a new anti geo-relocation system today.

All of our regions will currently present a proxy error with Netflix. We are working on this and have a good plan to resolve it, but it will take 24-48 hours for the first stage region deployments under this new plan.

We will update via twitter (@HyasBorderless) and on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlessinternet/ as things change.

Thank you for sticking with us, and helping to fight for an internet free from regional bias.

Got that as well - at least they are pro actively working on it - and letting us know about it :)

Unotelly is quiet, as usual… getflix notified subscribers via twitter and their website.
