Boxing

Not sure if anyone knows or cares about this, but there's another Youtuber boxing evening tonight. I recognize two of the names

It's in support of the American Heart Association, so that's at least cool.

Good fight earlier this morning. The rematch between Jermell Charlo and Brian Castano. Free PBC live stream on youtube.

Some really good back and forth between the two until Castano got caught with a hook on the temple in the 10th. He seemed to crumble after that punch. Charlo now the undisputed champ at 154.

What a mismatch that Beterbiev fight was. Felt sorry for Smith Jnr but he was getting annihilated.
Had a good start, but as soon as he got hit properly it fell apart rather quickly.

Beterbiev needs to fight Bivol soon before age catches up, I think it would be a very good fight

And while we were all sleeping Naoya Inoue vs Nonito Donaire II took place last Tuesday

it went way different than the 1st one.
Wow. From a 12 round UD win to a 2nd round TKO. Have to watch the fight still but feels like Donaire entered the ring defeated in his head for the fight to change that dramatically. Same result in the end, but a very different message and outcome from a career perspective.

Big statement from the monster and a very different game plan this time. he looked bigger, was more aggressive. Also learnt from the 1st one, it was rounds 13 and 14 in essence.

The fact that the 1st fight went 12 just shows Nonitos quality IMO.
Inoue said that he was seeing double for most of the 1st fight curtosy of a left hook. I think age finally caught up to Nonito hes only 39. No shame in that loss tbh.

Inoue needs to fight Cassimero next. someone thats not affraid to get in there with him and duke it out.

Not sure if this will be any good but interesting nevertheless

meh... Canelo doing a Flloyd and "timing" GGG - i suppose the win will probably re-establish him after the loss to Bivol. Dont be surprised if GGG is only coming to win... the money

More importantly....

20 August! I am Feel, I am very feel!

Kevin Lerena set to fight Mariusz Wach 17th September at Emperor's. He is ranked way bellow Lerena though at 58th in the world on boxrec. Seems Lerena is aiming low, or just unable to pull bigger fights perhaps. Another older fighter too.

I seriously doubt GGG is going to give Canelo any kind of hassles, its a payday and thats it.
He is so far past his prime and would need to pull out something spectacular.

Canelo has a decent chin, GGG I dont think has the same power, he is slower, less fit and simply not in the same class anymore.
Canelo ducked him well and now its just cannon fodder

We all wanted to see Tyson vs Joshua but nooooo....
Anyway, this is going to be a decent grudge match.

Tyson would murder Joshua, I would like to see him fight Usyk, although I dont know if Fury has the heart left anymore.

Will watch this fight though, will be interesting to see what AJ changes, I seriously hope his conditioning is better and he isnt so cumbersome, he was awfully slow and Usyk danced around him and fired fairly easily.

The only thing I think that might change is Usyk will be more aggressive and if Joshua is on point he might time a cracker, but he isnt in the same class, he has a punchers chance

Not sure I totally agree with that. GGG certainly has a live chance, IMO. He is 40 now, yes, but I don't feel as you do that he won't present significant problems for Canelo.

You may just be surprised here.

I hope so, but he hasnt looked convincing recently. I know Canelo didnt look great against Bivol, but that was a bit of a stretch and a jump for him. At 168 I think GGG will not outbox him, but like you said, it might be surprising.

I think GGG really deserves a win, I hope for it, but dont believe it will happen

GGG definitely taking the payday and probably agreed to all of the "contract stipulations" (read, dont win).
Hes old, slow, far from his best, but despite that will probably still put on a decent show.
It will also feed the "comeback narrative" for canelo, who i have stated numerous times is far from as good as advertised.

Usyk v Joshua.... if AJ is more aggressive we will see usyks quality of counterpunching come to the fore (it is really good, watch the Bredis and Gassiev fights) before he goes back to his jab and KOs AJ

I hope SS has the broadcasting rights for Joshua vs Usyk because the prices on DAZN has sky rocketed
