Looks like it is going to be starting at approx 23:15 SAST, unfortunately.

But at least the boxing broadcasts will not overlap with the broadcasts of UFC 278! :D

Popeye vs Badou:

The timekeeper added an extra minute in one of the rounds. (An illegal minute.)

Has that ever happened in boxing history?
Go and check if you can the 8th round of Gerrie Coetzee's defence of the WBA Heavyweight Title against Greg Page. As I recall, that round lasted 5 minutes. Gerrie got ko'd in that round. Timekeeper was asleep.

I managed to watch Usyk vs AJ (don't ask how) did anyone else manage to watch the fight as well and what did you think of the result?

One of the most boring fights I've seen in a while. No wonder boxing is dying. I watched that and kept thinking to myself, where's the desire to fight? Where's the aggression? Okes thought they were in the Olympics again, forgot they were at work.

Switched to the MMA afterwards and man, so much more exciting to watch.

I paid the R150 for a DAZN subscription.

Mostly a technical fight, as expected. Joshua did much better than in their first encounter. He pressed the action more and concentrated on Usyk's body with some effective body shots.

I had it even going in to the tenth and felt that A.J. had the momentum after that big 9th round for him. But Usyk turned things completely around and took the last few rounds with just an incredible punch output for a Heavyweight. His cardio must be off the charts.

Overall, a good fight. Looking forward to a possible Usyk Fury showdown for the Undisputed championship.
As far as Joshua is concerned, he needs to rebuild but is still a force in the division.

Usyk deserved the win. AJ had chances though but seemed to lack the killer instinct, the body shots were pretty solid.
Usyk has tremendously good head movement and movement in general, he looked gassed though, more so than in the first (could also have been hurting more).

AJ just isnt good enough to beat him and I dont think he will get another shot at Usyk again but he definitely did better than the first. He was better and I dare to say it, Usyk was not as good as he has been previously.

Watching that fight though, I am more convinced than ever if Fury has his heart in the game, he will beat both of them. I really hope he does come out properly, trains and lets us see what he has got left.

usyk just too good. And he didnt even look his best

class is class. A really entertaining fight to be honest. AJ tried, but not good enough
I am feel, I amm werry feel! :)

split descision was shocking, thats boxing for you. i had it 8 - 4 to usyk.

and then AJs rant, jees, talk about a meltdown, he took away usyks moment tbh. trying to remain relevant i suppose. Cos everyone is talking about it.

I think the way he fought still raised his stock and that fans will still wanna see him fight after that performance, but the meltdown just took away from that tbh.

Yup, never should have been split. Boxing refs are on crack

Watched the highlights on youtube and honestly up until round 9 I thought AJ had it. His punch output was just higher and he looked like he had him on points. Then that comeback from round 10 was just insane by Usyk. I like watching both these boxers, and am a fan of both so I went in not really backing one or the other but honestly I think it could have gone the other way had Usyk not come back so hard in the final rounds. He was always on the backfoot earlier on and backing away from AJ and being very defensive, and for large portions of the fight AJ just looked like he was landing more effective punches, especially to the body. Still, good win for Usyk! Not sure he will manage to take down the Gypsy King in the same way though should that come to pass.

Shoo... how poor was that fight...

IMO Canelo needed a comeback story, and GGG needed to win... that money

MAYPAC stuff cos canelo waited this one out i reckon, and G probably resigned to the fact that at 40, he needs to worry more bout his retirement fund

I was hoping GGG was being very tactical and playing it slow and old and then would come into his own and really fight later on.
Canelo easily won, the judges scoring was much closer than I thought. GGG looked happy to just wait it out, there were some flashes, but anything he did, the counter was fast.

Canelo looked gassed though at the end. Its over and we dont have to hear about this anymore. I see Canelo was saying he lost to Bivol because of stamina only....if he goes up again, I think he will face a much more aggressive Bivol who may just put him on the canvas
