Boxing

u beat me to it.

I honestly dont know if our boy Kevin is ready for this monster. the size difference is concerning. looks like they are feeding a dubois comeback narrative.
That said, Joe Joyce showed us how overrated Dubois is. He couldnt handle a quality jab. personally i think hes a hype job... but we'll see

nothing on SS ? otherwise theres the high seas

I cant see him beating Dubois, especially if he gets hit early on. I believe he needs to draw the fight out quite long, be fast in and out, hopefully the danger gets less in the later rounds. But I just have this gut feel he is going to try stand with him and I cant see it going well at all

Castro is playing whack-a-mole with Lopez right now.

Didn't watch the fight but read that Daniel Dubois may have had ankle or knee ligament damage in that fight with Lerena. And that Lerena showed no urgency whatsoever in trying to finish the fight. If that is so, serves him right that he got ko'd by Dubois. Letting a compromised opponent off the hook is hard to understand.

Lerena got klapped, but I think he got robbed. Bell went before the fight was stopped. Could have let that one go another round

Agreed, i think that stoppage was a little unfair

Lerena dropping Dubois THREE times in a minute was riveting!

Also riveting: Usyk staring down Fury!

Definitely didnt drop him 3 times.
The last 2 he took a knee, something was clearly wrong with his leg. His movement after was very very hampered.
The first one, I cant really see if it was hard enough to knock him or if he landed on his leg badly and that was why he went down, i suspect the latter.

What I think is odd is Lerena not pursuing him harder in the 2nd and the stoppage in the 3rd was unfair IMO.
I dont think Dubois would have won this, moving like he was, if the fight had gone on

After kneeling for the 3rd time, definitely not knocked down 3 times as @syntax says, the bell rang about 8 seconds early. I found it odd, just like the stoppage..

The Royston Barney-Smith v Cruz Perez fight was another joke. No way it should've been stopped.

Felt fixed with Lerena. WBA rules says 3 downs = TKO but the British boxing regulations can override that. Thing is he went down, and was given a short first round to recover. Lerena then did nothing for all of round 2 when he should have gone for the kill. Feels like a fixed fight. Way to much oddness going on.

have to agree. theres lotsa evidence for a "home cooked" fix. And of course we know frank warren is a dirty dog.

Lerena not doing anything after what was essentially a 10 - 6 1st round is very disappointing and suspect to say the least.

Watched a video or two this morning talking about the fix and they pointed out that when the Ref stepped in to stop it was also 3rd round Bell. So the bell was used 12 seconds early to save Dubois in the first round, but Kevin was not given the same privilege after a full round. He could have recovered in that minute. Its also very common for fighters to protest a ref stoppage. Lerena did not protest at all. Honestly, I think the whole thing was cooked. Disappointing though if Lerena was in on it but I can't see how he could not have been with the way it all went down.

have to also be suspect of kevin tbh... his protest to the stoppage, or rather, lack therof seems like he was content that he did his job.

Just further confirmation for me that Dubois is a bum and nothing more. the only real fight that he had was vs joyce and he got destroyed by a jab, and hes also a quitter.
The 2 KDs where he took the knee are futher evidence of this. unless he was listening to gareth shouthgate and was protesting Hijab in Iran...

Edit: 3 knockdown rule means that lerena actually won the fight. its the WBAs rules. why they were flouted? more evidence for the fix

Kevin doesn't strike me as the type that's in on a fix, but one never knows... He got caught with some very clean blows! 18 out of Dubois 19 wins have come by knockout. He's no bum..
He is still a bum, just a better bum then the bums he fought.

Beterbiev vs Yarde was entertaining to watch. Again he didnt look invincible and if Yarde wasnt gassed those punches he was landing would have really had a chance of stopping Beterbiev.

Whilst it was entertaining, I think Bivol would have dealt with both of them easily had they boxed that way against him. The Beterbiev vs Bivol fight needs to happen soon, I think age is already a huge factor and if Bivol wants to keep his momentum, he needs to win this year.

For a change... a real fight... very entertaining. Both guys went hard at each other... no bullshit

Beterbiev showing his age tho. Not as crisp as in his prime. But that power.
Yarde was busy early but didnt have the cardio... poorly prepared ? Agree we need to see Bivol soon, but it could already be too late.

And because boxing has become so dirty my ex father in law retired early from being one of the big boys in SA Boxing.
I used to go to all the good fights and ringside nogal but in a suit and tie...

Yeah, I really enjoyed it as a spectator with no real favourite from my side. I want to rewatch it, I also thought it might have been cardio from Yarde side and under prepared, but it could also be the big fight adrenaline or he was throwing much harder than he normally does. But he was landing, even though at the end they were much weaker, which makes me think Bivol, if he doesnt get clipped early, will outbox both of them.

Bivol has a decent chin, I am not sure if he will knock either of them out, but his class will see him win easily on points.
If they dont fight this year, its definitely going to be too late, but as you said, Beterbiev looked....aged. Reminds me of watching GGG as he was slipping, still had the power but no longer this unstoppable force.
