Probably best to buy her a Samsung phone, that can be repaired by the Pakis if she dropped the phone.
By loading a custom ROM on a phone is doable, but I consider that being not so stable anymore, the vendor blobs and stuff may cause unforeseen bugs and glitches.

I had a S4 Mini flashed with LOS, while it was stable-ish, I had to reboot it every few days for it to be stable.

You could try it, but I think it will apply for every Android phone. If it cannot be removed, then you could probably check if you can disable it.
Just make sure Developer options is enabled + USB Debugging.

All the Xiaomi's. Since last couple of updates it is bug after bug. I have the Redmi Note 9S and it has had endless issues. Last stable phone they had was the Note 4 (which I still have as a backup).

Was nice while it lasted.
