Any News on the progress? I spoke to apexeon connect a week ago and they are working with vodacom on package deals for burgundy estate. First 2 weeks it will be exclusive to vodacom only and after that you will be free to use any other ISP.

I phoned them this morning. Spoke to a guy who said that the Vodacom deal will be done end of month - meaning we will have Fibre then. He said 2 - 4 weeks vodacom, then other ISP's. Vodacom packages will apparently be inline with other ISP's prices (Not the ones on their websites.)

Almost there!

Got an update for Montbard, apparently they're coming to install next week. Pretty happy that it's finally going to happen

Count yourself very lucky you live in the more "liberally minded" complexes there.

I stayed in Santenay 5 years ago.. trust me, I know how *** BC's can be sometimes! --Especially there!
Marite said if Fibre is installed in the complex, it's stops there with them. To get it from the outside into your apartment, the owner has to give permission... so I'm all set!

To the guys that has already received their routers from Afrihost. How the hell were you able to accomplish that if Ruby Estate is not availabe for fibre on their website yet?

Edit : Saw you can select that you are sure you have fibre. So you guys just select cancerous Telkom and pick a package thats double the price of any other provider and get the router?

Hope that Vodacom would be able to provide a 100mb/100mb uncapped package for under R1000/pm

Marite... OMG... Marite... that is like worse than dealing with the ANC government.
Anyway I've decided to simply move elsewhere when the lease is up

Frogfoot was certain that they would get the tender for fibre in Ruby Estate, so they went ahead and notified Afrihost that fibre is available. So we got emails saying that Fibre is available, that is if you showed interest on their site. I signed up with the special they had and received my router as stated earlier. They have since removed the option when Frogfoot told them they lost the tender.I got this info from Ted at Afrihost.

Where will you go with rentals being so expensive in and around town? only reason I moved here was the reasonable rent(for what you get) at the time.

It took me two years of attending monthly trustee meetings and petitioning owners etc before I got the go ahead to install fibre in my building

Just got off the phone with someone from Apexeon who is also a Ruby Estate resident. They worked closely with vodacom to help them come up with packages for the estate and he mentioned he used Frogfoot as examples, but there is no certainty they will adhere to what was proposed to them. He said the transfer process has been completed and it's now up to Vodacom to connect to the mainline. It's planned to publish the Packages on Vodacoms site by the end of the week, but it all depends on parent company Vodacom UK if there are no delays. I requested to be informed as soon as these packages are published so I will post as soon as I hear about it.

Cool. I am worried about signing up with Vodacom though. Afrihost has really easy support (Phone, app, twitter etc).

Afrihost offering up to R4000 off on free installation, pity, no fibre for me.
