Buying a Used Macbook

Haha have the blue screens also ceased to exist?

Well, my crashes per hours used on Windows is less than on OSX.... (and much, much less than on Ubuntu, and much much much much much less than on Mint, but that's neither here nor there)
I can't remember when last I saw a BSOD.

You can't swap the battery out on any recent Air.

Oof, that's a problem on a used laptop.
Batterylife is heavily dependent on how that battery was used/abused. I did not take care of my current work laptop's battery, and it was dead within 2 years.
Now I don't let it drop below 30% if I can help it.

I've got a mid 2014 15" retina with 16gb of ram and it's been good to me. No plans to upgrade anytime soon. I like the fn keys too much. I might replace the battery when work picks up again.

Can't give advice.
Should have stuck with that. In fact you didn't even need to say that.

Dude, @phly is a very old toppie with little computer experience.

Blue screens with rampaging viruses exist in his world...

A calculator can surprise him if it switches on.

Good to see that Apple users have soft toes and a sensitivity that effects their emotional quotients.
Dare not thee disagree with an Apple user. Good stuff.

You're the one who started off saying you can't give advice. I'd move on now. The cannabis thread is obviously calling.

I have moved on. Do I need to remain silent if that post is quoted with a negative message directed at me?

No I don't.
Fk this. No mybb this weekend. It's getting fking worse than Reddit and Twitter.

You come here to troll and then get upset when you get trolled

I wasn't trolling. Very very rarely do any actions related to trolling.

I had two bad days yesterday and the day before.

I apologise to @bwana for losing my cool and being rude. I'm sorry about it.

As I said in the link to the Cannabis thread. My mind is currently giving me issues.
I'm forgetting things. My choice of words and sentences are not what I'm trying to articulate.

Apologies to everyone in this thread.

thats awesome about MBP that you can do that
my Air is non upgradable with RAM so im stuck on 4GB and the cost of a SSD upgrade makes me cry as it uses the expensive thin long drives and not a standard 2.5" drive

On the plus side my laptop is still as fast and reliable as the day i bought it 7 years ago. Thats why i love MAC

I bought the SSD on Amazon cause it was way cheaper with shipping and other taxes and fees all put together.
Mind you this was way before the Rand weakened againest the dollar so I hit a luck there. SSD prices in SA were way ridiculous 2 years ago as well. They should've dropped slightly but the Rand now is affecting the companies importing I guess.

Thats the downside of the Air, the lack of upgradability but it is really lite and it perfroms well. It is Apple after all. :p

Not true.

SSD prices have always been relative to the Rand.

I bought a 500GB Samsung Evo 960 SSD from Wootware in November 2017 for R3,599. Going price back then US$249 = R3,750.

Bought a Samsung Evo 970 SSD December last year for R2,499 from Evetech. USD going rate was US$230 = R3,200.
