Yeah, unfortunately only the cheap seats… have friends wanting to join and finding general standing tickets even on the black market is impossible.

those are actually some of the better seats. right behind the audio engineers, so that is where you want to be sitting, a few rows up so you can see over the engineers to the stage with ease.

I mean that is the dream for those who know they cant stand for a 4 hour show anymore.

we got seats like that because of bike accidents. 2 of the 4 of us would not be able to stand for 4 hours due to bike accidents. and honestly I had a lot of fun in the stands, was my first time at a concert where I was not golden circle or general admission.

My view (even though nobody asked for it, par for the course on this forum): We used Park 'n Ride, which was well organised apart from the fact that Centurion Mall was about the same distance from the stadium as the drop off point, but I suppose it it what it is.

Food/drink vendors were ridiculously pricey, but that would also not be a surprise.

We did not get the rain that Accuweather was threatening with, so well done to the organisers.

The bands were great, really enjoyed Offspring, as they were not there to convince me of their political views, but just to get paid and let me have a good time. FPK was very energetic and I can imagine that their fans must have loved it - the only problem was that sometimes the emotion/speed/whatever translated purely to noise and no longer music, in my unsolicited opinion. When Green Day decided to come on stage after playing me their mom's tape of Bohemian Rhapsody and some bullsh1t with a furry, they started off with a bang. Lots of theatrics and an egomaniacal suckfest. Frankly, I did not pay to get a guy pretend to be Freddie Mercury and get me to say "weeee-yooooo" in every song. I paid to see you perform. The first part of the set was great. The drummer does look like he just came home from a hard day at the mine and is waiting for somebody to bring his slippers, but he was precise - he really matched their recordings beat by beat, and that was superb. The latter part of the set, I suppose the newer stuff, I will admit that I am not that familiar with, but some of that also just became noise. Thank goodness for every song that I knew popping up. Green Day did not get an encore request (first time I ever saw that in an international act), due to a combination of 40+ year olds just wanting to go home and I suppose people getting tired of feeding BJA's ego.

FPK - 7/10
Offspring - 8/10
Green Day - 6.5/10

OK, tell me how wrong I was.
100% this was Spot on! Not to mention most of everything running out by 9pm therefore no fuel to keep the crowd going!

Do you have the options to go down and access the “golden circle” or front area standing zone if you take these hospitality packages?

Because for me rock show isn’t a rock show if I can’t get at least a little bit of mosh pit action up against the stage. But if that is an option, I’m definately doing this next time a worth while band comes along

Nee fok, these "booth" tickets sound perfect for me because the crowd is exactly why I don't want to go to any of these shows. Guessing they even have private or limited bathrooms all to themselves as well.

Probably why I'm a TOOL fan where all of it is a sit down show right up to the front row.

Who went to the JHB show? Honest opinions?
Most have it Accurate

Firstly, FPK really impressed me with their energy and stage presence. Despite not being my favorite genre, they managed to hold their own at such a significant event. They even took a selfie, mentioning it was the biggest crowd they had ever played for, which was quite endearing. I'd rate them a solid 7 out of 10 purely on their energy and ability to engage the audience.

Offspring was absolutely phenomenal! Their stage presence and energy were exactly what I imagined, and they even came back for an encore. If I had the chance, I'd fly to CT just to see them again. They definitely earned a perfect 10 out of 10 from me.

GreenDay, on the other hand, was a bit of a letdown. They started off okay, but too many of their songs felt like serenades, which unfortunately lost the crowd. The stadium started emptying during their final songs, and the lack of a big finale left me feeling unsatisfied. I was expecting an encore that ended with a bang, but perhaps it was a Sunday, and the crowd was just tired, or maybe they ran out of beverages. Either way, I wouldn't watch them again, even though they were one of my favorite bands as a teenager. I’d give them a 6 out of 10.

The Offspring were basically solely responsible for changing the trajectory of my music taste when I was younger. I heard "Gone Away" on 5FM when that album came out and was completely hooked.

I didn't get tickets to watch though, I just really can't handle big crowds like that anymore. If it wasn't such a cluster to get to and from the stadium I may have reconsidered.

Still their best song and one of my all time favourites.

that video is some serios music Nerd stuff. if you are not into the idea of analising how songs are arranged and put together, and how notes are placed inside things this will not be for you, and that is fine.

but for those who do like that kind of thing I hope you enjoy the video and I hope you go find some more things by this channel, he deserves more followers he makes good content.

The bus ride back was fun.

Someone on the bus said "Daar's 'n polisiekar" when we passed one on the Soweto Highway, at which point I sang out ♪Fokof polisiekar♪ and the whole bus erupted withFokof polisiekar fokof!♪

You can take the crowd out of Pretoria East, but you can't take Pretoria East out of the crowd... :P

Loved it. Went with my 11 son, big Green Day fan.
FPK 5/10 lots of energy, but lets be honest, their music is no where near the quality of the other bands.
...
IMO Francois Van Coke doesn't have a great voice. Personally I don’t care for it. He seems to be pretty good at writing though.

punk isnt about having a good voice, or being the best guitarist or drummer.
its about making a song that sounds happy, while having lyrics that are thought provoking and familiar.
if you focus on relationships and adolenssant things then its pop punk (blink, offspring and so on) if you focus more on political or social issues its just punk.

FPK are pop punk for the most part, wiht a few hints of full punk.

No one listens to FPK or any of Francios other projects because of his voice though, let’s be honest.

That said, he definately got vocal coaching along the way. He is much better now than he was in the early days (as a vocalist) - for pure rock and roll mayhem, the early days of FPK rocked hard!
