Canal+ axes Showmax

Used it mostly to watch the football. Hoping they provide a competive update on DSTV to watch the games there. Prices are still a little iffy at the moment
 
Pity. It's the only streaming service other than YouTube that I really used after I'd watch the Marvel content on Disney. I liked that they had my HBO series.

Nothing that a bit of swashbuckling won't remedy however.
 
Does look like they might just be combining things though, and doubt they would dare drop (all) local production support after announcing they support it.

Netflix must up the game and control all media and sport rights in the future.
 
Not using it personally, but it erodes the value of DStv's flagship product.

We will still be paying the full price, but getting less for it.

If I was one of the previous supersport employees I would seriously be thinking about putting together a few old team mates and pitching to netflix or one of the competitors to distribute sub saharan sport content.
 
So will they move the content over to DStv streaming perhaps? One can but wonder/hope.

My gut is they’re going to focus on value. They’ll probably drop this whole exclusive rights nonsense and simply purchase rights for their audience. Looking at their overseas offers it’s basically entertainment and sport - pay for either or get a discount for both.

The local stuff will simply have its own channel.
 
Having a separate "Showmax" app never made much sense to me.
 
I wonder if it's possible that Multiploos is doing this due to some quiet new agreement with Netflix? They are friendly.. sort of
